Who would like to volunteer to critique an ariticle I've written?

Sorry I've been so quiet on these forums (and the banner letters are in the pipeline! I haven't forgotten about them!), I've been working on my novel and spending less time online than I ever have!

Anyway, the feminist group I'm setting up starts next Sunday (17) and the reporter who covered my IWD event emailed me the other day to ask me to write an article for their 'Big Issue' page they do most days, where a member of the public gets to 'sound off' (in her words Hmm) about an issue that's important to them. She said it would be great publicity for my group.

So, really excited, of course. It needs to be 400-800 words (it's about 1/2 a page!) and I can write whatever I want. Can I PM it to some of you for critique, please? I'm worried I've got the emphasis wrong - this is a first draft. But don't hold back - I want it to be brilliant because I'm planning to ask the editor if she fancies paying me to write a regular feminist column for the paper weekly or monthly or something...if you don't ask you don't get! Grin I don't want her to say no simply because she thinks I'm shite at writing, though!

Reply here, or PM me if you're happy to critique what I've written. Smile

PM me, if you need another opinion FB! Until recently I worked as a journo, so can cast my media eye over your efforts....

I'm very constructive with criticism, too Smile

Hi IC

I'm going to make a few changes based on feedback from Belgo and David this evening when I can get back to my computer. Can I send it to you then, for a final look-over?

Thank you for the offer :)

You're very welcome to, FB!

Only thing is, I don't know how quickly you need it back because I'm out tonight, but can take a look at it as soon as I get the opportunity tomorrow...

Will your article be published online FB?

I think a lot of people here would appreciate seeing the finished product, as an inspiring example of how to engage local media & promote their own feminist groups & activities.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 08/04/2011 15:48

I'd love to read it! And (unlike last time) I actually have home internet so will be able to read it too :)

Jazzicatz · 08/04/2011 15:50

I am a reviewer for academic journals and a feminist Grin I am more than happy to help!

BlingLoving · 08/04/2011 15:53

I would love to read it too and can offer critique - I work in comms and do a lot of writing and editing of articles for people...

FlamingoBingo · 08/04/2011 15:57

Thank you for all the offers :) I know you have to decide to stop working on a piece of writing at some point, so I've sent it to everyone else who's responded so far, but won't be sending it to anyone else.

David - I don't know, but will definitely post a link if it is (or scan it and upload it somewhere. You're very encouraging - thank you :)
