Very powerful blog post written by a man - imploring other men to turn their back's on fake beauty and relish real beauty.

It's not often that you read something like this from a man which actually is making a good attempt to assess where we are today in terms of objectification etc. It touches on porn etc also.

There are a lot of arguments in there that I want to "learn". I find that I have to digest a lot of things to be able to refute/debate/argue in RL against the prevailing culture we have.

I think we should say what we damn well like about it, here, because this is our space not his, and he may not see it (though he probably will actually - if you have a blog you can generally see where people who've visited it have come from). But that's a risk you take if you follow up the links.

ChristinedePizan , hummmmm, maybe a sticky would be a very good idea actually. Maybe a feminism 101 for beginners type thing to accompany it? Might stop newbies (a la moi) asking the repetative/novicy questions that seem to get peoples backs up here, and so get people off on a better foot?

There is a whole world between dumbing down (bad) and seething exasperation/aggression (also bad). I suppose a happy medium is what I am after.

prolesworth - I am a VERY firm believer is the phrase 'just because someone doesnt want to hear something, it doesn't mean it shouldn't be said'. I am very up for politely challenging anyone. In this case the author may be surprised, even upset, at the reaction his words have caused. That doesn't mean he shouldnt be told, I just think he should be told, as you say, politely.

It might well have been called Feminism101 actually. But whatever it's called, I will ask MN (nicely) for it to be made a sticky. I think being able to direct people to somewhere they can ask questions is a good idea.
