WOW - ANNIE LENNOX

On Friday night I was lucky enough to be at the Southbank Centre in London for the concert organised by Annie Lennox. Of course, Annie was excellent but the whole concert blew me away. It was a night of empowerment and positive ideas. I love Annie Lennox anyway but the entertainment was amazing. The audience were amazing. Apparently it is going to happen every year to coincide with Internation Womens Day. I would highly recommend it, an amazing night. Thank you Annie and Paloma Faith, Kate Nash etc.

Please try to go next year, it was incredible.

Was that the one Sandi Toksvig was involved with? My friend was in it!

It's a whole weekend thing- completely amazing, I spent all day there yesterday and saw the likes of Sandi Toksvig, Helena Kennedy, Bianca Jagger, Yasmin Alibhai-Browb and Finn Mackay speak. Phenomenal women and just feel so inspired. :)

Hey MrsClown, how are you doing?
I heard a rumour you were at MWR but didn't manage to find you in amongst the thousands!

I went to the women and aging thing this afternoon chaired by Catherine Mayer and thoroughly enjoyed it, especially Katharine Whitehorn and Susie Orbach.

Do you spell aging ageing here in the UK? Am just curious - keep seeing it written ageing which isn't right to my American eyes.

they both look ok to me, I think we spell it either way.

Hello - the folks at the Southbank Centre just wanted me to let you know that it was the Southbank Centre's artistic director Jude Kelly who organise the WOW events, although Annie Lennox organised the EQUALS coalition (of which MNHQ is a part), and helped to bring together the line-up for Friday's concert.

JJ, I was on the EQUALS stall while that ageing debate was on - wish I'd known you were there!

Cheers,

MNHQ x

Ooh yes I knew that - I saw her talk on International Women's Day at the rally, and again on Saturday morning before Sandi Toksvig. I really think she is amazing and good on her for using her position and contacts to get something so great together for women. If only more people would.

Just an OT aside - I had the misfortune to watch a bit of Striptease the other night, that film with Demi Moore, and my brain nearly exploded when she was ahem "dancing" to an Annie Lennox track. Oh, the irony.

I was practically hoarse from shouting at the telly.
