Waterloo Road- Thoughts on the curent storyline about porn, and the exploitation of women

I am a big fan of Waterloo Road -and the main storyline right now is about Bex, who was blackmailed into running away from home and exploited, and used in films. The latest episode was almost all focussed on this, and on the effects that viewing porn has on boys. I was surprised but pleased - the teachers took a very anti-porn stance, and there were several great 'speeches' about exploitation and abuse of women and girls

Wondered if anyone saw it and your thoughts?

My DDs love this programme, I usually only see bits (busy doing house things) but it gave us a good excuse to discuss the issues raised.

I liked the way that the storyline showed the porn-users (Wayne and Kyle) were immature, angry and that the porn use damaged their ability to relate to real girls/women. And I also liked that the storyline showed other males (Tom the teacher and Finn the pupil) looking down on porn use, and being more able to deal with real females. Don't suppose the story would change the mind of anyone who was pro-porn, but it was nice to watch. If my DSs were older, it would be the kind of thing I'd quite like to watch with them.

The porn issue also comes up in latest episode of The Big C on Channel 4:

"Arriving home from the gardening store with a carload of blue-eyed irises, Cathy is looking for help unloading them when she walks in on Adam looking at porn on the Internet.

Her attempts to discuss sex and relationships don't go particularly well, but that's nothing compared to sex-related trouble she gets herself into at school."

I was like WTF considering the porn angle on waxage, so empowered women flash their fannies at strangers,what have I been doing all this time? lol

You may be right - tbh I was only half-watching it
