Can anyone recommend one?

I'm a bit bewildered by the options on google, maybe a nice medium sized one, not too many trolls, a wider remit than feminist issues (an active general/chat section).

Not asking too much am I Grin

worth a try anyway.

Erm here? This is the best place imo. I'm in all sorts of other bits and pieces but I've not found anything as active.

For activism there is a yahoo group, but it is announcements rather than discussion.

This is the best place.

UKFeminista forum is very quiet, sadly.

Where's the yahoo group, AliceWorld? I'll be calling for anyone interested in setting up a group at JMOTB event on Tuesday, and some activism ideas would be great!

It's called ukfeministaction. Yahoo groups always mystify me slightly, but if you have a yahoo thing logon then you maybe search for it and then ask to join.

FlamingoBingo · 04/03/2011 10:06

I have heaps of yahoogroups which I set to no-mail or 'individual mails' as my interests wax and wane Grin

Yeah, feminist discussion boards have come and gone, mostly gone, in the last few years. People say everyone has gone to blogs and Facebook.

Anyone here a Feminist International veteran? That was good while it lasted. People there knew how to enjoy a joke, but they were serious about what they believed in.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 04/03/2011 15:07

Ha was also going to say this one. Although there is a new London Feminist Network one and the UK Feminista one - not sure how busy they are though. Otherwise I know Shakesville has discussion/chat threads although it is a blog really.

Unrulysun · 04/03/2011 16:35

So what did you want to forum (can I have that as a verb?) OP? :)

msrisotto · 04/03/2011 19:47

This one is by far the most active. For my feminism fix I read here and feminist blogs which there are a couple of threads here somewhere with a list of good ones on.

coinoperatedgirl · 05/03/2011 00:55

Okey dokey, I will stay here then Grin, was just getting a bit fed up of Mn and thought there may be a mystical forum filled with left wing feminist types, basically a Mn without those I disagree with lol.

Yahoo groups baffle me too tbh, tried that before.

Then again I suppose it's good to be outraged by trollsshills now and again, angries the blood.

Did mean to put posters after trolls and shills lol, nm.

Oh that mystical forum exists, along with the secret militant feminist cabal that has already taken over the world but for some strange reason only the MRAs know the whereabouts of the headquarters

David51 · 05/03/2011 12:39

This is the forum where I come to learn about feminism & I've not seen anything better.

TeiTetua · 05/03/2011 19:49

An Internet forum with only people one agrees with on it? Sounds dead boring.

sakura · 06/03/2011 05:28

Depends, TeiTetua, I pretty much disagree with everything in the mainstream media. What is dead boring is that banal mainstream POV filtering over into feminist discourse.

sakura · 06/03/2011 05:29

IN other words: MRA activists= banal mainstream POV

I think this section is pretty good tbh.

No feminist forum, just a feminist thought(ref.MAN IS THE EXTENSION OF WOMAN)But look at the man. He is something more. He is X and Y. That means, he is essentially an ‘X ’plus something extra. What do I mean by that! Man is already a woman that is ‘X’, plus something extra. Does that mean first step towards manhood is womanhood? Now let’s talk in mathematical language. Here is the equation, Man = 22 autosomes + X + Y Woman= 22 autosomes + X + X= 22 autsomes + X (by logic not by mathematics). . . Man= (22 autosomes + X) + Y= Woman + Y (by mathematics, simply) So man is everything that woman is, plus something extra. Now the extra thing is not qualitatively different, but quantitatively. Hence Y here must be somewhat like X + 1, X+2 or X+ 3 or something like that. It would be ultimately proven that woman can potentially grow into man. Similarly man can reduce to woman, if he loses some part of ‘Y’.

Grennie · 30/09/2013 00:01

There are lots of feminist facebook groups, of varying usefulness. Feminism on Facebook is a good one with a range of feminists posting there.

UptoapointLordCopper · 30/09/2013 07:30

I think this one is pretty good. Smile I'm always learning something new here, which is good, and I don't always agree with everything, which is also good. I think.

I miss that thread with feminist academics though. Where's it gone?
