Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

So designers make clothes that are so unsuitable for women, that in fact they look better on this male model

look at this

I was reading the BBC's report on the Barrage of Farrage and this story was right next to it.

It kind of says it all to me about how clothes are simply not designed for women. He looks absolutely beautiful in them, really fab. They fit his shape perfectly. But er, his shape is that of a man.

blimey

in that pic, though, he has curves

more than I do Hmm

I really do believe hat many clohes are not made for women

the thing is, I am one of those 5ft 10, sraight up and down, curveless creatures

he is much more feminine than I am !

JessinAvalon · 24/02/2011 21:41

I do feel encouraged though by the fact that he's 'trying out' a feminine look. It's a move away from the strict masculine/feminine roles that we've had to pander to for a few years.

Saltatrix · 24/02/2011 21:43

Well it suits him because he has a very feminine figure even his face is very feminine.

HerBeX · 24/02/2011 21:43

Yes his hips go out more than mine do. Envy

I have a very androgynous shape

not much I can do about it

clothes look great on me though

perhaps if I had a willy I could become an "alternative" model ? Smile

HerBeX · 24/02/2011 21:47

he looks more man-shaped in the pink poncho

To be fair many female models are used for male clothes as well, the model scene is very interchangeable between sexes and is really dependent on the body type.

EdgarAleNPie · 24/02/2011 21:53

he is very feminine and turning his legs in to exagerrate his hips.

designed for women- yes

designed for me - no way in hell!

PeterAndreForPM · 24/02/2011 21:54

oo-er

MarshaBrady · 24/02/2011 21:58

I don't think they look better on the male model.
The first pic he looks like a woman.

The poncho one, he looks like a man in drag and the clothes would be better on a pretty female model.

HerBeX · 24/02/2011 21:59

oh I don't know, I actually fancied him in the poncho one Grin

Shock Wink

PacificDogwood · 24/02/2011 22:04

He is not a man, he is a rather angelic looking boy-child!

But, yes, a lot of fashion is not made for 'womanly' women

And that poncho is vile on anybody

msrisotto · 24/02/2011 22:40

Yeah I was going to start a thread on this earlier but......I suppose we shouldn't be surprised! The fashion world has barely ever concealed it's contempt for women.
