White Stuff - shop decoration

Went into White Stuff today, all over one wall in the Mens section, it's decorated with tear outs of old Playboy mags.

Then, in their mens fitting rooms, there's an old Sun topless calendar. Nipples blacked out.

Ironic? Nope. Just sad to see in a shop that prides itself on the 'yummy mummy' and being a 'child friendly' shop too.

Yet more assilation of sleaze culture into the high street/everyone's lives.

So pissed off

'assilation' = assimilation!

Really? How peculiar.

I mean really, I'm sure DH would think it pretty random too.

Hmm, not sure where to pitch my complaint

Head office must surely know what they're doing

Press will get them more attention

Of the two - head office best bet, but I get the impression they think they're being all clever and ironic about it all

The thing is, the Playboy pics are glued onto the wall, HQ clearly have the idea they're staying for a while

The Sun page 3 calendar was hanging on the door, just asking to be half-inched...

Quite insulting to men as well as woman really.

ffs

that is appalling

Katiekitty · 11/02/2011 21:11

And, they were also selling a cookery book for cooking with 'hash' done in a 1950s style

It was like I'd stepped into a parallel universe or something

I am not making any of this up!

well of course it was only a few months ago they did that 'Smack my witch up'thing on the internet so they don't have a great track record....

interesting that they would now do this. suggests that Smack My Witch Up was not a one-off random thing but does in fact represent a basically misogynist company.

madwomanintheattic · 12/02/2011 00:27

lor, i'm sorry, but i misread it as 'the white company'... i'm sitting here going, 'rilly? eh? what?' then it dawned on me i was being dim.

weird enough that it's white stuff. is it on their website as well? (no shop in these parts)

how. odd.

SardineQueen · 12/02/2011 11:04

Blush just realised I had the wrong people too. Might explain why I was so flabbergasted!

Don't know anything about the white company! Looked in their windows once and it was all candles and stuff, can't imagine how page 3 ties in with that either though TBH.

sethstarkaddersmackerel · 12/02/2011 13:22

they're just trying soooooo hard to be edgy, aren't they?
