Did anyone else see this story on the BBC, about a British woman who has died following a buttock "enhancement" injection?

Fucking hell.

I bet there are a lot of stories like that (am thinking of Kanye West's mother for example) and wondered if anyone else knew of any? We could collect them here to show that cosmetic surgery is not as risk free as bloody everyone would have us believe :(

I heard that on my way home from work. How bloody dreadful. I mean, how can you be so brainwashed that your arse needs operating on that you risk death for it?

But I bet she didn't realise that she was in fact, risking death. I bet the risk was understated.

There was a case very recently of a German porn model who died after her 6th successive breast implant:

But people also risk death or serious injury for a lot of other slightly daft things, including most sports. I do think cosmetic surgery is often a pointless risk, but people often take a higher risk for less gain.

I read in the Beauty myth (I know, I know) that an African president (sorry can't remember which country) shut down the cosmetic surgery industry, effectively banned it, after 14 girls died. She went on to say "how many women in the good old US of A..?" the truth is that nobody knows because nobody is keeping count of how many women in the west are dying Sad which is short-hand for "nobody gives a fuck"

Has anyone been watching Beauty & the Beast on Channel 4?

Cosmetic surgery obsessives confronted with people suffering from facial disfigurements - very interesting

Sad Rhadegunde, the skeletal image of that model who died of anorexia last year while she was still working Shock

That's a powerful video. Who is that woman doing the talk?
