I don't know if this has already been posted, apologies if it has, the Hefner empire is intending to open a Playboy club with Bunny girls in London. This blog is aiming to do something about it ban the bunny

I saw the ads in the Evening Standard recruiting for bunny girls and meant to post something about it at the time (it was before xmas). Really grotesque adverts, nostalgically harking back to the good old days when it was like Mad Men and calling for young slim women who can fit the bunny persona to the tips of their bunny ears or some such guff.

Glad to see someone's campaigning against it.

I thought Gloria Steinem had already debunked the "empowerment" stuff about Bunny Girls, when she wrote an article about Bunny Girls way back in 1963. Yes, 48 years ago! The article was about her degrading experiences working undercover as a Bunny Girl in New York.

I've read that Playboy clubs struggled to survive between 1990 and 2006 but since then they have been making a comeback.

How depressing to think that "Bunny power" is still with us and that it is seen by many as modern "empowerment" for women. To me, it seems more like the sex divide of 1960 time-warped into 2011.

I hope any new Bunny Girls can be made aware that they are only following in the footsteps of women old enough to be their grandmother or great-grandmother. Those women from previous generations of Bunny Girls were duped by apparent empowerment too, but they know different now.
