I'm not even sure which of the two it was. but he seemed to think that apologising to the referee and telling the world he had done so would make it all ok. and some other idiot was saying how it probably was, indeed, all a joke, and no offence was meant.

And this was pretty much unchallenged by the presenter. who asked something pathetic like could it indeed be a case of pc gone mad.

I think a few people (including some journalists) need to exchange the word "women" with the words "black" or "Asian" and then maybe they'd start to understand...

I know he admitted it was wrong - but the fact that he thought his apology to the individual woman involved and her acceptance of it was enough to move ahead indicates to me, that he doesn't get why it was wrong. It's not just one person he offended it's half the blimmin population!
