Elephants had this idea!!

So I'll start

"we're not a homogeneous mass..."
"I don't like to be too narrow..."

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 25/11/2010 18:05

I dunno, sm, have you ?

You seem to be taking this thread rather personally...

am not scrolling, earwicga, although perhaps I should

I love sm's posts, but every so often she appears to lose the plot somewhat, and I try to jumpstart her back into the real world

she never thanks me for it, btw Smile

scottishmummy · 25/11/2010 18:07

haha, this thread is flakier than dandruff.def worth a comment

plupervert · 25/11/2010 18:07

The Maternix Reloaded!

HerBeatitude · 25/11/2010 18:41

I haven't cut and pasted anything.

Bit egotistical SM,this isn't about you.

Actually seriously, whoever said let's have some refutations of these silly arguments, that's a good idea. Becuase it is worth discussing some of the most common ones and finding out why they're rubbish

sethstarkaddersmum · 25/11/2010 18:46

rofl @ this being a thread about a thread.
Just imagine if the only place all these things had ever been said was on a single thread on Mumsnet once....

scottishmummy · 25/11/2010 18:48

unfortunately there is never a sensible discussion.someone always rocks up with
you is antifeminist/whatabbotthemenz/derailer accusations rather than acknowledge different pov

clearly from the myriad of responses there are many ways of processing and understanding

sethstarkaddersmum · 25/11/2010 18:52

nonsense, there are plenty of sensible discussions. And there are the ones that get derailed.

scottishmummy · 25/11/2010 18:54

indeed i meant to say not always sensible convo

HerBeatitude · 25/11/2010 18:56

oh stop with your acknowledging of a different POV.

If you use a wotaboutthemenz or other anti-feminist argument, it will be pointed out.

It's not that we don't acknowledge your pov, we just don't agree with it and seeing as how this is a feminist space, we'll be promoting feminist viewpoints. You have most of the rest of the world to ask wotaboutthemenz and get a sympathetic hearing.

scottishmummy · 25/11/2010 19:03

i can assert any pov i want on mn.just as you can refute it.and if you want to label it that is also available to you

but no i wont stop asserting my pov,and interestingly i wouldn't ask you to sensor your pov

may not agree with it all time, but dont seek to limot it

and whilst feminist topic is a specific topic it isnt closed member only forum.is located on mn a open discursive forum.hence anyone can and will post here

msrisotto · 25/11/2010 19:14

Fine, scottishmummy - you continue asserting your pov and we'll go about our daily business as well. If you don't like it, leave it. We can assert any pov we want to too now stop having a what about meeeeeeeeeeeee paddy and we'll get on with our thread. Not. About. You. as before.

scottishmummy · 25/11/2010 19:17

thanks, i shall continue to participate as i hope do many others.no change there then

HerBeatitude · 25/11/2010 19:20

I'm not asking you to stop asserting your POV (that would be pointless) but to stop pretending that we're not acknowledging it.

we waste hours of our lives aknowledging bollocks on the interweb.

JessinAvalon · 25/11/2010 19:23

I find it odd that someone would take any of these comments personally. I have heard all of this stuff before on misogyny is free, other online sites and IRL. None of it is very original.

Some others:
You just like arguing....

And...you're being too aggressive.

And...a classic....today at the Bristol City Council End Violence Against Women week event to correspond with the international EVAW day, some of the artwork from workshops for survivors was been shown and there was a photo opportunity.

Two councillors came along, Lib Dems, one the Leader of the Council and she asked if the artwork was done by "people" rather than women, making the point that men get abused too, didn't we know. And then both councillors (the other is male) started saying that it's discriminatory to have an End Violence Against Women week.

Not sure if they got their photo op in the end.

scottishmummy · 25/11/2010 19:31

so what are the prizes then for a full house

sethstarkaddersmum · 25/11/2010 19:32

scottishmummy · 25/11/2010 19:33

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 25/11/2010 19:36

Blimey, am I the only one humming "You're So Vain"?

Anyway.

Where were we?

JessinAvalon · 25/11/2010 19:37
