confused about sexually abusive relationship

When I was 14 I was having a really hard time at home as my parents were splitting up and I got kicked out of school. I met this guy who was 27, he was a petty criminal and into drugs and not a very nice character. I lost my virginity to him and he basically used me for sex for about a year, it was a really unhealthy 'relationship'. The police visited my house to warn my parents it was illegal and he was bad news but they didn't do anything to stop it as I thought it was okay (if it was my daughter I would have gone medival on his ass!). I'm now 30 and still affected by it, I was way too young to be involved sexually with someone of that age. I know it was illegal and I can really understand they have the stautory rape law for a reason. What do you guys think?

I think this sort of situation is exactly why they have the statuatory rape law and that your parents were way too wrapped up in themselves and let you down in a big way. I'm sorry you are still affected by it and hope it doesnt affect your current relationships.

what is it you are confused about? have you seen a counsellor for what you went through? it sounds like this absue was happeninga t the same time as a lot of horrible stuff. you have a lot to work through.

Thanks guys, I thought I was going to get a lot of "well you were 14, plenty of 14 year olds do this, it's no big deal". Seeing a councellor but it is so expensive, I think the NHS can help with the first 3 sessions but I can't really afford £40 a week on a reglar basis, which is what it costs in our area. I saw one sex therapist a couple of years ago for three sessions but she was really unhelpful, I told her I didn't like being touched by DH sometimes and she literally said "you need to realise DH isn't the other guy, do you want to get over this or not?"
