Official MN presence at Reclaim the Night?

Hello

A few of us are planning on going to Reclaim the Night on Saturday 27th November - do you think we could/should meet up under an official MN banner? Some of us met up at the feminist conference at the weekend and it was quite hard to know who was who, and some of us missed each other, which was a shame. Plus it's a march demanding the streets are made safer for women, so sounds pretty MN friendly.

Thoughts please :)

Ok, am all kitted out. Lights can blink or stay on all the time.

I will be in full mountaineering gear and not be getting cold at all, oh no.

Will bring the brolly too, which is black and has pink/purple circles on it.

SupposedToBeWorking · 26/11/2010 20:33

Annie, no I'm not going to the party. I think that would be too much excitement altogether and I'd probably be sick on my cycle lights or something Grin

AnnieLobeseder · 26/11/2010 22:04

'Tis a shame. It was a wonderful meet-up last year.

I'm very disappointed I haven't managed to talk anyone from the meet-up into coming to the march either. Sad

UmYeahLikeTotally · 26/11/2010 22:06

oookkay feeling left out now. Have no blinky lights of any description to wear. Sad

You can recognise me by my grey coat, and i've got looong dark hair. hmm, and biker boots most probably.

So we are going for 5.30, Embankment tube exit (villiers st)?

I hope it doesn't snow!!!!!!!!!!!!! Confused

TAFKAtheUrbanDryad · 27/11/2010 08:02

Ooh Annie, I met you at last year's Xmas do (I think) so will hopefully recognise you!

I might crash this year's Xmas do for a little while, but haven't paid - didn't know for sure that h was gonna have the kids but if mamazon doesn't mind then I'll come along for a v quick drink and say hi to some people!

SupposedToBeWorking · 27/11/2010 09:11

UmYeahLikeTotally you can share my lights if you want!

5.30, Embankment Tube exit (Villiers St) it is.

I'm off to catch my train - see you all there!

TAFKAtheUrbanDryad · 27/11/2010 09:25

Hmm, it's just started snowing. May have to rethink my outfit!

AnnieLobeseder · 27/11/2010 16:36

Sorry folks, won't be able to make it, only just leaving for London now.... my day went crazy! Sorry!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 27/11/2010 16:50

oh rats, I've been offline as the exciting weather blew my router (not as rude/enjoyable as it sounds). Glad you've all sorted a place to meetup. Will keep an eye out for the sparkly light people when I get there around 6, will whisper "em-en?" at strangers in a meaningful fashion :o

I'm wearing wellies (probably - not snowing yet but I want to be prepared after wading through puddles last year!), a grey coat and a frankly silly woolly hat.

Hopefully see you there, and if not, have a wonderful time!!!!!
:)

SupposedToBeWorking · 28/11/2010 13:25

Well, I am so glad I went.

UmYeah, it was great to meet you!

My two abiding memories will be of the applause and cheers we got from bystanders, and how tireless this horde of women was.

See you all at Million Women Rise!

[punches fist in air]

sethstarkaddersmum · 28/11/2010 13:27

was it good then?
Tell us more!

bigbang · 28/11/2010 16:56

I was there too- I didn't realise there was a mn meet! Nevermind will try to meet up with you all at Million Women Rise if that's ok, I don't post very much but I do read when I can (small typists try to join in!).

It was great, I agree supposed, the cheers from the public were very encouraging. Next year I am taking a flask of tea though

sethstarkaddersmum · 28/11/2010 16:59

flask of tea a good idea, any more tips? (I'm going to the Leeds one next week.)

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 28/11/2010 21:34

Ahhh SO sorry to have missed everyone but it was a great night. DP staged a one-man support protest too :o

So glad you both went, UmYeah and STBW - hope to meet you both at MWR. Nice thing about these all too rare feminist gatherings is that is fills you with energy and hope, and gives you the chance to see that you really aren't the only one.

It was blooody freezing, admittedly. Tips, ssm? Packet of tissues (cold weather nose running syndrome), packet of cough sweets to aid the shouting, handwarmers maybe? And make your own placard! I was very admiring/envious of the woman behind me who had a plain cardboard one that read: "Piss On The Patriarchy" :o

southeastastra · 28/11/2010 21:34

who are you reclaiming the night from?
