Hello

Been saying for ages that it'd be nice to have an area for just saying hi, letting off some steam and sharing the little things that don't warrant a whole thread.

So, I'll start...

My brother made me :o:o:o last night when we were talking about some crap sexist song. And he said (in all honesty) - well this is just one of the millions of ways the patriarchy keeps itself going.

Also got the updated email from the Feminism in London conference this morning - can't wait.

Anyone else?

There were some other threads about Studio Ghibli and ages etc, e.g. here

While we're on films - has anyone else noticed that the female characters in Disney films etc. have become the strong ones recently? We just watched Tangled in the cinema, where the lead male gets saved by the lead female several times. Also Mermadia (Barbie ) the male is the one in trouble and the women save him.

Pity they still look like they haven't eaten for several years and have had lots and lots of plastic surgery, though Hmm

Still, it's a start, isn't it? Or am I wrong?

Must get Mulan as our next film then! I like to make my children aware that women are strong and clever adn don't need men to save them!

What age for those films, do you think, SAF? I was thinking of getting Labyrinth for them soon too, because I remember loving it as a child!

Making notes here, have two little girls, not quite big enough for films yet though!

Mulan sounds good

And as for Labyrinth
