Sorry I can't find the original thread this question was asked.

Some said something like I wish there was a website where you could look someone up and say no I won't go near him because he dated x y z person and did this this and this and was an arsehole because

I knew there was a site but couldn't remember the name, which I have now

www.dontdatehimgirl.com

you have to have a user name and password to access the database, and its a bit cheesy and american, but the basic principle is that if you meet a bloke who is a liar and a cheat then you can expose him and warn others

Whoa.

So, on this site women can 'report' men for alleged misdeeds, publicly naming them, on the internet?

Holy shit.

Anyone who says 'what about the menz'...

just please don't, not today.

bottyburpthebarbarian · 17/08/2010 10:09

No slouching, that's exactly what I thought.

Didn't say I recommended it, only that I knew it was there.......

I wouldn't actually use that site either TBH. But I'm sure men could set up a similar site about women, may have done in fact.

Probably illegal in this country however.

bottyburpthebarbarian · 17/08/2010 10:31

Well it seems to be US based, and they're very quick to sue over there.

Friend of mine used it years and years ago when she lived in London and got stung by a serial cheater.

yeah i just looked there is a male version also

Dontdateherdude

Personally i think the whole thing is funny i am pretty sure a lot of exaggeration goes on with ex-BFs suddenly being Gay or having STIs Grin

slouchingtowardswaitrose · 17/08/2010 12:23

I am just cringing at the thought of don'tdateherdude.

OMG.

Or...some kind of 'minger rating' site, some horrid vile thing! EEK!

I guess the key is help women to value themselves, recognize red flags, understand common patterns of abuse, trust instincts, also recognize that instincts can sometimes be our own unhealthy patterns attempting to repeat themselves!

Thanks for posting, I wish more content were available without registering!

The thing is, free speech is protected very vigorously over there.
There's a site called RateMyProfessor.com for students which is of course full of awful stuff about university staff. There may have been legal challenges to it by disgruntled academics but if so they have failed.
The most disturbing thing about that site (which made me thank God I didn't work in the US) was that along with rating how good and how easy they were, they also rate how 'hot' they are. Applies to both men and women, of course, but even so....

slouchingtowardswaitrose · 18/08/2010 01:41

Oh I know re the free speech thing, I have such mixed feelings about it.
