Lobby Russia to stop trafficking women & girls

Saw this, a campaign to get Russia to sign up to the Council of Europe's Convention Against Trafficking in Human Beings.

"This would put a real dent in the global rape trade - in which Russia is a key nexus. Up to 50,000 Russian women and girls are forced into the sex industry each year in Europe, and Russia also is a major route for girls trafficked from Asia into Europe. If Putin becomes personally invested in this issue, he could cause a crackdown by Russian authorities, and this would send a powerful signal to organized criminals everywhere."

Signed and bump.

My work used to involve working with trafficked women and yes, Vietnamese and Chinese trafficked women are almost always taken overland through Russia. It's one of the most evil things in existence - modern slavery. If anyone is interested in doing some fundraising or just getting further information, the Helen Bamber Foundation in London does valuable work with victims of trafficking who have managed to escape.
