That's what the nice man at the Co-Op HO customer relations office told me.

I sent an e-mail and it was blocked from going through because it said pornography.

Apparantly the word pornography is too dirty to send via e-mail (there weren't any other dirty words I promis - I resisted the urge to use the word "arse" in the e-mail) but it's OK to keep displaying Daily Sport and Nuts etc.

Or not. The man said lots of people had complained and I'm pushing at an open door.

So if everyone pushes with me....HEAVE!!!!

I checked our local ones and they already have theirs on the top shelf

But Smiths have theirs at about hip level, I keep going in and turning them round.

But don't put the word pornography in your e-mail.

It's really hard not to use the words "naked", "sexual" or "porn" in the letter! I feel like I sound like a maiden aunt, but here's what I wrote in the end:

"I always shop at the Co-op when possible, because of the ethical stance that you have on many issues. However I have noticed that some branches place magazines/papers such as Nuts and the Daily Sport on very low shelves, some of them right down at the level where small children are looking for comics.

As the Co-op has such a good reputation in other areas, I was really disappointed to see that degrading and objectifying images of barely clothed women are given such prominence. Most people, men, women and children, do not want to be faced with such images when they're just trying to go shopping. If pictures like this are on the internet then they are (in theory) only available to those who want to see them - by allowing them to be placed in the middle of your shop you are in effect forcing them onto all your customers.

Would it be possible for you to advise all your shop managers to place these magazines on the top shelf, where adults can find them if they want them, but where children and others do not have to see them?
