Breast cancer worries tiny lump

Trigger warning ........breast cancer

Hi im hoping someone can help me as im spiralling...
Ive had breast cancer worries for a while i have just had a baby shes 13 weeks old..

I deceloped a small area on my breast that become sore and red..having bad anxiety i jumped straight to breasr cancer but my docter isnt concerned.i then felt a lump in the nipple but this must have popped instantly as no longer there.

I then kept looking at my breast and noticed my right breast by my nipple looks indented...
Ive been examined by 4 differnet docters all who have felt the area and felt no areas of concern.ivw been in that much of a panic they have referred me to the breasr cljnic for reassurance..one saying there 99 percent sure it isnt cancer.

However now when i hold my breast and use 1 finger to feel around in that area i can feel a small tiny like dot which is harder than the surrounding area its tiny about size of a grain of rice but ive gone into turmoul and now fear its that small no docters can feel..i no i shouldnt examan myself with 1 finger but ive found it now and cant stop ...
My docrer said i will feel lumps and bumps if i feel like this and there only referring me to reassure me as ive been examined by about 4 docters in a week

Please help me i think im dying i havnt eaten for 4 days

I found it myself OP as I’ve always checked my breasts monthly. I’m absolutely fine now but knowing my medical history isn’t going to help you.

You’ll be thoroughly checked at the breast clinic.

Focus on getting help for your health anxiety.

But could docter feel it ? And was it big

Of course the doctor could feel it OP. But it was so high up in my breast tissue that I dithered a bit as to whether or not it counted as a breast lump or something else. 5mm when found, 7mm when removed. It was tiny.

Again, are you talking to anyone about your health anxiety? That seems to be the real issue here.

Toootss · 03/05/2025 19:38

Whether there’s a lump or not isn’t relevant - I had no lump and had breast cancer -if you’ve been checked by several doctors I’m sure it’s fine-but didn’t you say you are going to the breast clinic? It was the mammogram that showed mine so once you e been to the clinic and had a mammogram you will know for sure. Breast cancer does not spread very quickly. So it won’t be in your back.
Try to eat some good healthy foods while you wait for your clinic appointment to keep your energy up. You will need it for your lovely new baby.

I had something very similar post partum. The consultant could feel it even though the GP couldn't and said he was confident it was just a cyst but sent me for an ultrasound to be sure. They then decided to aspirate it which confirmed it was a benign cyst. All done at the breast clinic over about 3 hours with baby in tow.

The consultant told me that he sees loads of post partum women because hormones can make our breasts go quite lumpy. He said it is important to get these things checked so he was pleased I'd come, but that it's very rare that they turn out to be cancerous.

Yes, I had both ultras and mammo. They both will show anything that’s there. It will be great to have your mind put at rest.

Sounds very similar to mine. I know it is highly worrying as I've been there, but it's very unlikely that it will be found to be cancerous, but of course get it checked.

Also, it would be worth having a chat to your GP about your anxiety more generally. Sometimes our minds go into overdrive post partum as part of the natural response to be alert to risks and threats when you have a newborn. Of course you need to get this check out and your mind put at rest. But if you find that you're still finding something to worry about after that then definitely have a chat with your GP.

I am sorry you are going through this OP. An issue very close to my heart. The ultrasound will show if there is anything they need to test. Ultrasounds on breasts will get through all the tissue thoroughly, if there's anything there it will show up. It could be a blocked duct through - try hot compresses - I got that a few times when breast feeding.

And yet they could feel it OP. You’re irritating me now, so I’m going to step away from this thread.

OP, that's a bit melodramatic to say the least.

I've had breast cancer, the lumps they found in my breast with routine screening were all too real, but a short course of treatment (about 15 weeks), and a few follow up appointments, and I've been clear now for three years.

I understand the feeling of desperation when it comes to dcs but it is normal to wait until you actually receive a positive result. You've received multiple negative results. Honestly, stop worrying. Get some support for your anxiety. Don't pass on your worries to your children.

Bex4567 · 04/05/2025 13:01

I think you have severe health anxiety.
Not eating for 4 days won’t help.
Unfortunately BC does exist, women get it and deal with treatment/ surgery because they have to.

Hopefully yours isn’t anything sinister.
Do you have coping strategies for your anxiety because these are key for you right now.

Bex4567 · 04/05/2025 15:24

You’ve had loads of good supportive advice on MN and you’ve been referred to through breast clinic. You need to find coping mechanisms until your appointment.

Enigma53 · 05/05/2025 12:37

Just to say also, as one who has had primary and now secondary BC, it isn’t always a death sentence. There are many many treatments. Many of us are living and living WELL with cancer. You need to keep that in mind too.
