Cancerous Tumour??

Bella198567 · 19/12/2021 03:41

Hello, wondering has anyone experienced a red congested cervix highly suspicious of malignancy?
Waiting for the biopsy results
Normal Pap smear in feb last year and normal ultrasounds until now!
This has come on suddenly bleeding everyday, my oncologist is certain is 99 percent a cancerous tumour which was never picked up even though I had an internal ultrasound done last month
Has anyone experienced this?

I found sleeping tablets helped in the short term. I was only allowed two weeks work but after about a week I eked them out by taking half a tablet. It just helped out a bit.

SortMyHouse · 14/01/2022 23:58

Sorry if I'm asking silly questions
How did they know it was a tumour and not a fibroid for instance?
Does this now mean you can't get pregnant, have a biological child in future?

Sorry to hear what you're going through.

HP79 · 15/01/2022 00:07

@SortMyHouse

For me, at a physical examination the tumour(s) looked and felt like cancerous tumours, which was then confirmed by a biopsy.

I am now unable to have children, first because I had a hysterectomy and then because my ovaries were radiated during the chemoradiotherapy. I think @Bella198567 will be having the same chemoradiotherapy and will go through medically-induced menopause, as I have done.

HP79 · 15/01/2022 00:10

@Bella198567 Any news on your treatment start date yet? I'm sure that lots of crying and upset is a completely normal reaction. It will get better though. Time is a great healer. Try to focus on the task in hand though... killing off the sodding cancer! Weirdly, I didn't cry much during the treatment period itself because I was quite preoccupied with getting through each day at a time.

Bella198567 · 15/01/2022 00:12

Yes exactly what @HP79 has mentioned, mine was undiagnosed for 2 years.
I do have a small fibroid however that one is definitely not cancerous

My 5cm tumour was diagnosed during a coloposcopy
I was at passing clots and bleeding non stop during my periods

After my biopsy results came in I was told I had stage 2b cancer
Menopause will start for me as soon as treatments start so no more children for me

By the way I have a start date Monday January 24th!!

@Bella198567 Fantastic news about the start date... but that still seems a long way away. Gives you a bit of time to get your ducks in a row before you start though, I suppose.

Bella198567 · 15/01/2022 00:20

I am nervous but very determined oddly enough the crying has stopped a lot for me lately

I've tried to keep myself as busy as possible, working crazy hours.

It's the only way that I can make myself feel better at this point.

So slowly but surely it's almost chemo day on Monday. The nerves are kicking in and having lots of sleepless nights

Can't believe this will be my life for the next 6 weeks 😟

OP posts:
HP79 · 21/01/2022 00:53

I wish you lots of good luck for your treatment! Nerves and sleepless nights are completely normal and understandable. You might find that you sleep better after you've had your first couple of chemo and radio sessions, as you'll know what to expect (and realise it probably isn't
as bad as you've been imagining).

Just take it day by day. Allow yourself lots of rest and relaxation at home. Be self-indulgent. You'll get through it, I promise. You just will! Focus on the end game... 6 weeks of shit in exchange for a lifetime of life! It's a good deal, when you think about it.

Good luck and keep us posted! X

Houseofvelour · 21/01/2022 00:57

Good luck with your treatment OP! Wishing you a full recovery xx

Bella198567 · 21/01/2022 09:05

@HP79 I have read your message over and over again as it makes me feel so much better thank you 😊
I will keep you posted on how I go xx

@Houseofvelour Thank you also for your kind wishes!

Hey there!
So had my first chemo yesterday And second radio today
Chemo felt forever but wasn't as bad as I imagined ! Have some tummy pains and nausea and was awake from 4am last night
I was told by my doctor my iron levels are way too low, I'll need an infusion. Has anyone had this before ?

OP posts:
HP79 · 25/01/2022 18:05

Amazing! Well done! At least you know now all that the next 5 weeks will entail, hopefully it's a bit less scary.

I didn't have to have an infusion, so I can't help with that one, I'm afraid. Did they explain what it involves and how long it will take?

Make sure you take a power bank with you to chemo sessions so that your phone/pad battery doesn't die. Also load up films and TV shows to help pass the time.

Sorry to hear you have nausea and pains. You might experience pain and discomfort throughout your treatment. I don't have any wise words for you, but I've been there and you can definitely get through it. The nausea is something they can do something about so make sure you speak to your chemo nurse next week to ensure you're on the best possible meds for that.

Drink lots of water and moisturise your skin in the treatment area. X

Bella198567 · 25/01/2022 19:06

Thanks @HP79 !
Definitely taking my iPad next week!
They said to me it's just a half an hour procedure for the infusion
Basically my iron is so low due to bleeding from my tumour for months leading up to my diagnosis that it has caused my iron to be low, it's just a drip I have to have put thru doesn't sound too major
I have been using cream and my anti nausea tablets everyday hopefully the nausea eases off as the weeks go by. Off to my next radio in the hour ! X

Sorry all you ladies who have went through this. This may be inappropriate but I'd like to ask if your tumour was undetected would you consider suing the NHS for negligence as reading some of your posts it seems it was negligence Angry

Bella198567 · 25/01/2022 21:58

@Baileys123 I definitely have been thinking about it
However I've been told with the adenocarsionma is harder to detect on Pap smear?!

My oncologist is puzzled though as to how a 5cm tumour was missed in November a month before my diagnosis

I'm looking into it that's for sure.

OP posts:
Baileys123 · 25/01/2022 22:46

Yes it's harder to detect through a smear but suspicions should have been raised and investigated properly. When you feel strong enough research all you're cervical history and keep this in mind Flowers

HP79 · 25/01/2022 22:59

@Baileys123

That's a bit of a moral dilemma, isn't it. On the one hand, in my case there was an opportunity a few years before for a questionable smear test to have been followed up by the NHS. If it had, I might not (probably would not) have developed cancer.

On the other hand, the last thing the NHS needs is more people suing.

Also, going through a long and stressful process like suing the NHS is not something that appeals, when all I want to do is forget about it and get on with my life.

Icecreamandapplepie · 25/01/2022 23:00

No experience but am following and behind you all the way, like many other lurkers no doubt. Wishing you all strength in the coming days Flowers

Baileys123 · 26/01/2022 00:02

Yes I understand. However it's the NHS playing Russian roulette with peoples lives.

Mistakes are being made and lessons need to be learned. There are many women out there in the same situation who have sued and the financial support helps with loss of earnings etc.
Women having hysterectomies etc which could have been prevented.
Think about yourselves and what it's cost you.

Bella198567 · 26/01/2022 01:01

Just had my radiation today was so exhausted just woke from a nap

Heartburn is another level at the moment just got some medicine for it

Isn't it too soon to develop these symptoms ? I feel like this will be a long 5 weeks 😟

OP posts:
Bella198567 · 26/01/2022 01:04

Had this been picked up with abnormal cells on my pap over the years I would not be in this position I guess.

My question is what went wrong who went wrong.
