I feel so dizzy and scared. Have awful health anxiety.

31 years old.

This morning found 3 small pin head sized marks on right breast. Been googling like mad. I'm so scared I have inflammatory breast cancer.

I have been obsessively checking my breasts the last couple of days and I don't knownif I've created trauma to my breats but these red marks have scared me. I feel like my head is so heavy and I'm going to be sick and I keep going to the toilet.

I have two small children and their dads taken then out to not see me in this state again

@foxgoosefinch

Small bruises, or have you looked up cherry angiomas? If you have fair skin these are just little harmless bright red capillary marks that appear on the skin as you age, often starting in your thirties. I have loads on my breast.

Don’t worry, OP! Book a GP appointment to put your mind at rest; skin marks and rashes are rarely serious. But talk to your GP about your health anxiety too.

Ah I thought this is what they could be. I have quite a few of them all over but never knew name thanks for that.
Toottoot11 · 05/12/2021 15:10

They look like I have got a very red ink pen and dotted three dots with it

OP posts:
Toottoot11 · 05/12/2021 15:12

I don't think they are cherry angiomas. These are so flat that even if I scratch over them with my eyes closed I wouldn't know they are there.

My husband has cheery aromas on his back and if I scratched them I'm sure they would bleed

I do feel a little calmer now but I'm still scared. I was sobbing before in fright.

This feeling will pass. You need to distract yourself with something. Can you take a shower or watch some tv, listen to a mediation?

Fet2021duejuly2022 · 05/12/2021 15:15

Meditation*

Toottoot11 · 05/12/2021 15:18

I've got undiagnosed OCD with housework and I actually enjoy it so I can crack on with that.

I really hope I havnt got Inflammatory Breast Cancer. I can't leave my little boy behind. He understands everything and I'm his voice as he has ataxia and can't walk or talk.

It's nice talking on here. I've been a long time lurker!

You will have damaged the skin from over checking your breasts.

You will cause your child and your husband (and yourself) more long term harm with your anxiety than any genuine medical problem you develop.

I mean that in the kindest possible way as I used to have terrible health anxiety.

You have to STOP googling. It's the absolute worst thing to do if you're anxious.

Get yourself out for a brisk walk to calm yourself down.

GentlyGentlyOhDear · 05/12/2021 15:21

I have tiny little dot cherry angiomas on my skin and a couple on my breast.
I also suffer from health anxiety and have been in some terrible states with it (and spent an awful lot of money on private consultations and tests). Please do talk to the doctor about the anxiety. There's also a really helpful website o use called nomorepanic that you might find helpful.

Dalidark · 05/12/2021 15:23

Sorry you're going through this Thanks

I think it would be wise to speak to your GP about your health anxiety and specifically ask for a referral for CBT.

In the mean time, if you google 'CCI Health' they have a really good resource for health anxiety, under the 'looking after yourself' section. There's a stage by stage work book that's fantastic. There's definitely some techniques you can try in the meantime at home that I think could really help you.

Nandiniti · 05/12/2021 15:25

Here OP, have a cuddle. Anxiety makes everything so much harder, and nothing any of us says will make you worry less I know.

Statistically, the red marks are far more likely to be the result of chafe marks from your bra last night or an accidental scratch/knock from your child, perhaps.

I have a funny scaly darkened patch on one nipple, which dries out and flakes occasionally - I picked at it and gave it a scab, and panicked momentarily when Google informed me it could be Inflammatory breast cancer. But then I remembered that I noticed these discoloured dry bumps (like moles) on my nipple when I was 19, which was 30 years ago. I've lost and gained weight multiple times so my boobs have expanded, shrunk and expanded again, and no doubt the uneven bumps have just grown and spread along with my saggy boob skin, so they now look like a patch!

Logically I decided that if I havent developed cancer over those 30 years then it's probably nothing to worry about.

If anybody wants to give me any dire warnings about getting this checked, which I will at some point, best PM me so OP doesn't have to read about it!

Toottoot11 · 05/12/2021 15:26

GentlyGently. I'll look at that website when I've I've the GP. I'll make sure I do as I can't keep doing this. Because I wore my bloody bra to bed last night I have lost a full day with my family. DH has taken them to football and the play centre. I have missed doing the food shop and now will probably be eating shit food all week hopefully just because I kept my bra on in bed or because I have been over checking ( I have over checked for years though, sometimes 40 times a day easy)

@Toottoot11 it does sound like you may have ocd (checking oneself for illness is an ocd sign). Ocd isn’t all about cleaning up x

Toottoot11 · 05/12/2021 15:30

OCD only only I'm worried about my health?
I can be a few weeks but then when something crops up, I'm the woman in TESCO toilets having another quick look or feel or Google.

Fet2021duejuly2022 · 05/12/2021 15:32

Yes ocd isn’t about cleaning up too much, it’s about obsessive thoughts and behaviours. . Have a read on the website link I sent - it might resonate with you x

Toottoot11 · 05/12/2021 15:36

OK to summarise...

These three red dots could be bruising?

It COULD be as simple as that?

Or it COULD be inflammatory breast cancer.

Just before I put my phone down and do something pro active.

OP posts:
Toottoot11 · 05/12/2021 15:37

Fet I'll look before I do something proactive as looking at that could be proactive now I have calmed down.

Fet2021duejuly2022 · 05/12/2021 15:38

Yes put your phone away and do something nice ❤️

rainbowninja · 05/12/2021 15:38

@Toottoot11

Hope you're feeling a bit better, it's horrible when an intrusive thought like that comes on. You're absolutely right though, best thing you can do is reach out to people on here or ask your husband for a hug.

You might like a book called 'the wisdom of anxiety' by Sheryl Paul, it's about addressing the feelings that lie underneath anxious feelings and thoughts.

Toottoot11 · 05/12/2021 15:41

I could have OCD and health anxiety and this time Inflamatory breast cancer that's presenting itself initially with three small red dots. In two days time I could have more and they could itch and it could go from there. Then my children won't have a mum.

Or it could be my bra Smile
