Ah love, it’s so painful and frightening. You need to give your digestive system a break so you never strain at all on the loo. For example:
- drink loads and loads of water
- eat extra fibre along with your lactulose.
- cut out meat and dairy
- cut out highly processed food
I lived off hot water, porridge and fruit and veg for a while and it helped.
The donut cushion to sit on will help, take all pressure off the area. Frozen peas too.
If at all, possible try to take walks, avoid sitting or standing for too long in one position, sleep on your side of course.
My GP said same to me as you, there’s nothing surgical anyone can do while you are pregnant. I wasn’t even allowed anything stronger than over the counter ointment, as GP said it wasn’t good for the baby. I cried and cried when they said that. So much pain!
I found Tucks wipes very soothing, expensive but so worth the investment. also a sitz bath is handy, I made do with sitting in a shallow bath of tepid water with tea tree oil in.
Be aware things do often get worse in the last weeks of pregnancy, it is hard to imagine but the pressure on your backside can be immense. And if you have piles before the birth, the pushing stage of labour also tends to make things worse, it is terrifying if you are not prepared. You really need to get the piles under control, then stay that way until the birth - a very rigorous diet to keep your fibre content up and avoid any food difficult to digest. Post-birth be prepared - have a pot of Tucks pads, your Anusol, some tea tree oil and a sitz bath for when you get home.
I remember sobbing every half hour when the baby was cluster feeding and I was in so much pain, every part of “down there” felt ruined and just sitting holding the baby was agony. Not what I dreamed of for my baby mooning phase, to be sure!
