Can anyone please help, I'm pregnant and due in 11 weeks and I have really bad bum grape and I'm worried it will turn into a hemroid, I've been in pain with it for 3 days and I'm using the anusol cream but it doesn't seem to be getting better, it's hurts that much it takes my breath away and is making me cry, can anyone help or suggest anything that I should do? Thank you 😊

It sounds like it already is a haemhorrhoid. Maybe talk to your midwife for advice. Good luck with the baby. 🙂

Thank you for coming back to me, I shall give my midwife a ring tomorrow, hopefully she answers 🙄 as she isn't the greatest or maybe I'll just ring the doctors directly? X

It definitely sounds like a haemorrhoid and may have prolapsed if it is really painful and you can't push it back inside. Do speak to your G.P. as you need something stronger than Anusol. The G. P should prescribe a steroid ointment such as Scheriproct cream which also contains a local anaesthetic and will quickly give you some relief. I feel for you O. P, I've been there, but this will help.

Saltnsauceta · 11/05/2021 20:16

Oh, they're so painful. I'd speak to the midwife and/ or doctor - you might be wise to buy yourself some lactulose too to try and prevent and more.

I rang the doctor yesterday and she just said carrying on using the cream I have been and take warm baths a couple times a day, but I'm not able to push it in as it just comes out again, I have my 28 week scan on Friday so maybe I can speak to someone then?

Thank you so much for your advice Smile I have lactolose already from the doctors previously as during my pregnancy I have struggled with bowl movements since I was 12 weeks pregnant x

Okay so the doctors have given me a prescription but said it won't make it go away it should just reduce the inflammation and help with the pain! So far it's not working I've just started my second day on them.

They also said that doe to me being 28 weeks pregnant that the hospital would more than likely not do anything till after I have given birth. So are they telling me I'm meant to be in this much pain for the next three months! I honestly don't know how I'm going to cope with this! My pelvic area is also hurting not as well! Can someone please give some advice if possible on what I can do!?I'm using wipes instead of tissue 'preparation ah' and I have 'anusol' wipes as well I'm have warm baths for 15 minutes and I'm using lactolose and a cold flannel when I can! I really want to enjoy the rest of my pregnancy but honestly this pain is becoming unbearable 😢😢 xx

Have you tried the anusol suppositories?

Yes that's what I was using before the doctor prescribed me something that you also insert but I don't understand how it makes a difference when it is on the outside, every time I clean it as well there is spots of blood, I go away next week and they told me to and if it doesn't improve to ring again! I'm in absolute against with it, spent most of the week in bed, crying every time I move, can't even sit (just had to buy a sitting cushion) I really don't know what to do! X

PinkSpots, l am sorry to hear that you are struggling soo much with the pain, what did the doctor prescribe for you?

Seaoftroubles · 14/05/2021 22:57

Something that does help is to use ice too reduce the swelling, just some frozen peas wrapped in cling film and held against the area should help a bit and give some relief.

MotherofTerriers · 15/05/2021 00:27

Frozen marshmallows will be softer than peas.

CustardyCreams · 15/05/2021 02:35

Ah love, it’s so painful and frightening. You need to give your digestive system a break so you never strain at all on the loo. For example:

  • drink loads and loads of water
  • eat extra fibre along with your lactulose.
  • cut out meat and dairy
  • cut out highly processed food

I lived off hot water, porridge and fruit and veg for a while and it helped.

The donut cushion to sit on will help, take all pressure off the area. Frozen peas too.

If at all, possible try to take walks, avoid sitting or standing for too long in one position, sleep on your side of course.

My GP said same to me as you, there’s nothing surgical anyone can do while you are pregnant. I wasn’t even allowed anything stronger than over the counter ointment, as GP said it wasn’t good for the baby. I cried and cried when they said that. So much pain!

I found Tucks wipes very soothing, expensive but so worth the investment. also a sitz bath is handy, I made do with sitting in a shallow bath of tepid water with tea tree oil in.

Be aware things do often get worse in the last weeks of pregnancy, it is hard to imagine but the pressure on your backside can be immense. And if you have piles before the birth, the pushing stage of labour also tends to make things worse, it is terrifying if you are not prepared. You really need to get the piles under control, then stay that way until the birth - a very rigorous diet to keep your fibre content up and avoid any food difficult to digest. Post-birth be prepared - have a pot of Tucks pads, your Anusol, some tea tree oil and a sitz bath for when you get home.

I remember sobbing every half hour when the baby was cluster feeding and I was in so much pain, every part of “down there” felt ruined and just sitting holding the baby was agony. Not what I dreamed of for my baby mooning phase, to be sure!

CustardyCreams · 15/05/2021 02:38

PS, I do understand you can’t push the grapes inside but, when you shower, do try. Same after a sitz bath. It actually does relieve things for a bit if you can some back inside, and even if they pop out minutes later it is a good habit to get into.

Seaoftroubles · 15/05/2021 09:34

Pink spots, were you prescribed a steroid cream that also contains local anaesthetic? If so that should help you along with the ice packs and pain relief.
Anusol just isn't enough in this case. If it's a prolapsed haemorrhoid then it will be extremely painful but should be able to be managed if you can reduce it a bit. I advise getting a face to face appointment with your G. P, be really clear how much pain you are in and tell them it's affecting your sleep and mental health.

crapmyleghurts · 15/05/2021 15:04

Make sure you're not eating things like bananas which will constipate you.
For going to the bathroom I recommend getting a squatty potty to prop your legs up on.

Thank you everyone so so much for your help and advice! I just don't know how they can make you keep being in so much pain! Honestly if the pain doesn't get better I don't know what to do, it's also affecting me and my husband as I'm in that much pain my emotions are all over the pain! If it doesn't go away I can have a normal both I don't think I could cope with the pain! It's ridiculous that they won't do anything to make it go away! I'm really not going to enjoy my holiday next week! I would rather just have a week at home not working than be away! The doctors HAVE to do something and I'll be sure to tell them when I get back if it has not gone away x

Thank you so much for You advice! They have prescribed me with something I have to put inside my bum! But the pain is really starting to make me depressed and I can not do this for another nearly 12 weeks till my due date, I'm thinking of having a c-section just because I can't cope with the pain! I don't understand why they can't get rid of it just because I'm pregnant! It's also on the outside and I'm pretty sure it's a pro lapsed hemroid, there is a bit of blood on the wipes every time! I feel like it's also effecting my baby because of my emotions 😢😢 xx

Have you tried movicol? I found the lactolose was crap for me, did nothing. What helped a bit were those cool pack maternity pads! I haven’t even given birth yet this time and am using them for the same issue you have! It really gets in on you the constant pain and it makes you anxious about going to the toilet! I turned the baby bath upside down and put my feet on it in place of those squatting potty things it helped. Also boots sell a foam by Frida mom that is cooling and comforting. I have been using the expert mid wife spritz for bits too on my pile it seems to help the discomfort. I found it great after my last baby too as I was very sore. Amazon also sell cool packs especially for piles but I haven’t tried those myself. I’m dreading the state I’ll be in after the birth too so trying to get mine under control now ahead so I don’t destroy myself altogether!!!

Seaoftroubles · 16/05/2021 23:08

PinkSpots l agree with Yummymummy, a cool pack, or ice wrapped in cling film, and held against the haemorrhoid will help. As it is external you need a cream to apply rather than something you insert. I had the same as you when pregnant, it was a long while ago but l remember l was prescribed a cream called Xyloproct ( not Scheriproct as l thought before) and it really helped with pain and swelling. Ask your G. P for that as l'm sure it would help you.

meltybuttons · 16/05/2021 23:11

I had a golf ball sized mass of piles come on within 12 hours when I was 24 weeks pregnant, I had to go to A&E (advised by 111). I was crying in agony for a day after. Wasn't prescribed anything stronger than Anusol because of the pregnancy.

They did give me a prescription for Instillagel which numbs the skin around the piles and reduces pain, can you ask for this? It does help.

I'm sorry to say I still have them, 9 months after giving birth. Try and get it reduced now with the excellent advice from pp, and rest loads!

ShroomShroom · 16/05/2021 23:30

I used some round cotton pads (the kind you use for removing makeup), soaked in witch hazel and kept in the fridge. You can buy similar things premade but this was much cheaper Grin The great thing with these is you can kind of wrap the pad around the offending pile. I did also need to have a panty liner because there can be some moisture!

I sympathise though as I attribute the pain of mine along with the perineal pain after giving birth for contributing to my PND.
