I can’t figure out what’s doing this. It’s on an upstairs window ledge, could it be bats in the roof or something else? It’s got me stumped 🤔

Hmm tricky to see what it is when zooming in. Looks like breadcrumbs maybe?

Could there be a bird sitting above that might be chomping through something and dropping bits?

I doubt it's bats as they eat insects and really would only leave droppings as evidence (which look like mouse droppings).

Is that inside or out?
Can you take some clearer pictures?
What size is the stuff?

NebulousSadTimes · 12/10/2025 10:58

Have you felt the crumbs? It could be mouse shreddings. I have them shredding pipe lagging just now.

Looks like white gravel on an upstairs windowsill to me. Kids maybe?

Chloeobrien · 12/10/2025 17:36

The size is small like gravel but it’s softer, thanks for the replies I think it’s probably birds or mice chewing something up. Maybe a squirrel?
it’s on the outside so I’m taking the pic through the glass so it hard to get it clearer.
