I keep starting threads like this...

Just started reading this now, seduced by all the hype, not convinced yet (but only on about page 30). Anyone else reading this great big brick of a book?

No but I got the free pamphlet/extract from Waterstones. It looks v interesting and apparently the film rights have already been sold. Must get round to reading it. Have the Wide Sargasso Sea for my book group this month and not lookig forward to it.....

BeckyBendyLegs · 07/07/2010 17:42

I was doing that for ages Deaddei then I saw it in Tescos for £10 and gave in... It's just so heavy!

BeckyBendyLegs · 08/07/2010 07:09

I'm on page 42... Started it on Monday. I don't think I'll be finished by next Friday! I'll give it a go though. My hand is aching from holding it!

I'm a fair way in and loved the first section...not so sure about the second, which is very much in the post apocalyptic world. I'm told it picks up again in part 3...

ilovemyteddy · 12/07/2010 14:27

I'm about 500 pages in and loving it. Bella11 is right - the second section is quite heavy going, but have just started part 3 and it is getting exciting.

TheFoosa · 12/07/2010 16:15

you are 500 pages in and there is still part 3?

is it longer or shorter than that Mr Norrell book

BeckyBendyLegs · 12/07/2010 18:03

I just don't have time to read it - on page 120! It's going to take me about a month at least. It is getting better.

It has about 750 pages! And the pages are quite dense. It really is a brick of a book.

On page 250 now. Going slow but I am now getting into it! I just don't have time to read it that's the main problem. I even read it while pushing DS3 to school to pick up DS1 and DS2 and it's not a light book to carry.

Page 300 and still going...
