He's good isn't? I've just finished Revelation .

janeite · 22/06/2010 21:05

I rec him to everybody but so do lots of other people, so I don't know if it was me or not. But am so glad you're enjoying it - he's great! And I am v slightly in love with Matthew S

CMOTdibbler · 22/06/2010 21:07

I think they are fantastic books, and always recommend them. The history is solid too, so you can feel like you are learning at the same time.

Worth buying for Kindle too, as they are def rereaders (my merit for buying things for mine anyway )

I really liked Phil Rickman's The Bones of Avalon too.

He nornally does paranormal thrillers (which I like) but this one is historical.

hannahsaunt · 22/06/2010 21:31

I loved all of these; hoping there will be more. Winter in Madrid is also awfully good though entirely different (also CJ Sansom)

cryhavoc · 22/06/2010 21:40

I love the Shardlake books too. Am studying law at the moment, so even pretend that reading them counts as studying rather than slacking...

LightShinesInTheDarkness · 22/06/2010 23:35

Just to say that I loved 'Winter in Madrid' as well.

SkaterGrrrrl · 23/06/2010 15:01

I just finished Sovereign and have DH reading them as well now. Dark Fire is my favourite so far.

oftenpurple · 24/06/2010 15:16

I've just been and add the whole series plus Winter in Madrid to my wish list. Oh dear, this kindle is proving to be very expensive!

Love C J Sansom (and probably also have a tiny crush on Shardlake ). I powered my way through the entire series in a fortnight and loved every word of it. I've heard that he isn't planning to write any more Shardlake books...I hope to God he changes his mind or I'll be very very distraught

shelleylou · 24/06/2010 15:23

Theres a new book in the Shardlake serious which is due for release in september. I've pre ordered it.

LutyensCBA · 24/06/2010 15:50

oooooo. I love you shelleylou

shelleylou · 25/06/2010 00:06

I cant wait for it to come out. DH will lose me till i finish it.. Shame it isnt already out

oftenpurple · 27/06/2010 06:11

That's good news, it'll give me time to get through the rest of the books

OP posts:
shelleylou · 27/06/2010 11:45

I might reread the first 4. I think it took my about a month to get through them first time round. I read to quick and i got really stuck into them very quickly

Itsjustafleshwound · 27/06/2010 18:39

Can the books be read in any order?

shelleylou · 28/06/2010 08:34

possibly as they are all different stories. I read them in order because of the character development and Shardlakes history

dotterel · 28/06/2010 08:35

I love them too!
