These are amazingly good books - completely unputdownable! Anyone agree? I just wanted to urge everyone to read them if you haven't done so already...

If (like me) you tend to feel vaguely embarrassed by reading books aimed at the 'young adult' market just get over it and read these They're far more intelligently written than many books I've read aimed at older adults. I really feel they should be marketed in the adults section of bookshops as well as so many people do not know about them and are missing out!

Anyone else out there read them?

Has no-one else read them then? I can't recommend them highly enough!

I love these books too. I borrowed them from my 12yr old sister. Sometimes I thought they were a bit written with the intention of being made into a film, but overall I really enjoyed them. The third part of the trilogy comes out in August, I think, and we will be fighting over it as a family as my sister, mum and I all want to read it and possibly other family members too.

I'm glad someone else out there has read them too Steg!! I've read that 'The Hunger Games' is in fact being made into a film (no surprises there then!) I think it's a bit mad that they're only marketed as young adult books as it narrows their audience so much... Perhaps when the film comes out and gets hyped to the 100th degree they'll earn the larger fan base they deserve

Yeh I've read the Hunger Games and loved it - I've got the second one but haven't read it yet.

It took me a while to get round to reading the 2nd one too Sandy, but I've just finished it and found it even better than the first one (although slower to warm up).

I've got it in my TBR pile and will get to it - looking forward to seeing the film as well.

I thought they were fab. Reminded me of The Running Man in many ways. I whipped them from our school library and have begged our lovely librarian to be on the look out for the last one - I thought it was October, so glad to see it's actually August!

SandyisinCaldwell · 20/06/2010 10:36

Rosieeo: book 3 is out in August?

Rosieeo · 20/06/2010 11:10

Yep, according to the website. Looking forward to it!

Apparently the film will be released in 2011, I'll be interested to see what they make of that.

Just to say Mockingjay is out now. Currently reading it now. Good stuff so far. DH is dying to get his mitts on it, but he's got to finish what he's reading, or he will get confuddled.

FreddoBaggyMac · 28/08/2010 18:41

I have it on my shelf all ready to read, but want to finish 'The help' first cos it's great. There are TOO many good books around at the moment!
