She's one of my favourite authors and I thought The Lacuna was amazing! Anyone else like it?

I loved The Poisonwood Bible. Haven't read The Lacuna yet, will look for it this week!

I'm a Kingsolver fan, have read almost everything of hers, and have just read the Lacuna. I have to say I didn't think it was as good as the Poisonwood Bible or Prodigal Summer. She obviously did loads of research and it's all in there, and it's a fascinating historical setting with Rivera, Kahlo, the McCarthy era etc, but somehow for me the main character didn't really come to life. Of course that may be deliberate (lots of meanings of lacuna...) but it made the whole book rather unsatisfying for me. I did have to keep stopping and starting though (no time for uninterrupted reading recently) which may have affected how drawn-in I felt.
