SandyisinCaldwell · 26/06/2010 14:31

Tim managed to get on using my phone. Love the tatt idea, my friend got one property of the BDB! Ive just started Dark Lover again for the 3rd time. If you want any of the books or the insiders guide on PDF email me at [email protected]. BTW its gorgeous in Caldwell today !

Timbachick · 26/06/2010 15:52

Thank you Sandy. I have the Insiders Guide - firm favourite. I think I must have read DL at least 6 times now (keep going back to it in between reading the others!!!!). I am in the process of "convincing" my DH that I really really need a tattoo to enrich my life ... he doesn't like them and I do!!! BTW - have you checked out Cafepress.com or Zazzle.com for BDB t-shirts - I have a great one with "WRATH" on the back and another that says "Put on your big girl pants and deal" - love it! Hope your access issue get sorted.
Timba

SandyisinCaldwell · 26/06/2010 16:30

Timba, loving your t-shirts, what did you think of the picture i posted of Wrath? I love the insiders guide? I love it!

Timbachick · 26/06/2010 17:15

Loved the Wrath you posted. Pretty much as I have imagined (fantasised????) him to be. Brilliant call on that one. Agree with you --- not really 'getting' the Ronaldo image of a Brother - he's such a vain wuss and they are soooooooooo much more!!! The Insiders Guide rocks, it really does. I check her site regularly to check on updates. Am liking the covers of the Brothers books - John Matthews is fab - doncha think?

SandyisinCaldwell · 26/06/2010 18:50

Timba, im on the boards as well, it was great waiting for Lover Mine, she was posting a sentence a day! I loved JMs book, cant wait to read it again. Im just glad she sees no end in sight. Have you read her Fallen Angels series, first book Covet? The second book Crave is out October.

Timbachick · 26/06/2010 20:08

Haven't started reading Covet yet, but have it on my shelves. I have Crave on pre-order with the mighty Amazon! I have high hopes for them to be honest. I just really like her style of writing - quick, punchy and more like "real life" (if I can say that) than some of the other paranormal romance writers out there. I read tons and have to say the the WARDen does it for me. Long may she continue as the Brothers' challa.

SandyisinCaldwell · 26/06/2010 20:49

Timba, what other PNR books have you read?

Timbachick · 26/06/2010 21:33

Oh the list is fairly long Sandy!!! In as much as for each author there is a series that is quite extensive. Let's see:

Jacqueline Frank: Nightwalker and Shadowdweller series
Alexandra Ivy: Guardians of Eternity series
Larissa Ione: Demonica series (similar to the WARDen's style - punchy and raw
Pamela Palmer: Feral Warriors (shapeshifters)
Sherrilyn Kenyon: Darkhunter series
Kelley Armstrong: Bitten
Lora Leigh : Breeds series

A friend of mine loves Meljean Brook and Nalini Singh but I have yet to read any of theirs.

I have read a mini story from Kresley Cole but didn't really get into it at the time but will give her another go.
I have also read a few of Jaid Black - she does a viking underworld king of series which s quite readable. However, I have no interest in her Trex series - seems a bit odd/not my thing - she is also very graphic.

What about you? Any suggestions?

SandyisinCaldwell · 26/06/2010 21:48

Im in the middle of the midnight breeds by lara adrian, got the lords of the underworld series to read , the night huntress by j frost, the sherrilyn kenyon night hunter series - these are just a few but i just cant get out of Caldwell!

Timbachick · 26/06/2010 22:07

I know, I know. Caldwell is a real lure. I could stay there forever tbh. Sometimes you just find home. I don't know what made me pick up DL but from the first page I was hooked. Knew I would never leave. It's taking me ages to read anything else as I keep going back to the Brothers. Between you and me, that's why it's taking me quite a while to continue with the series - I keep re-reading DL!!

SandyisinCaldwell · 26/06/2010 22:11

Timba ; great to find somone as obsessed as i am, i love everything about the brothers, love how the are with there shellans, love the protectiveness, love the quotes JRW uses. When Zsadist gave Bella the note with I love you, i cried buckets!

SandyisinCaldwell · 26/06/2010 22:12

Timbachick · 26/06/2010 22:58

Sandy, thank god I'm not alone in my obsession. It's good to find that there are others who 'get it' in the same way I do. The 'i love you' note was one definitely but also when Rhage bargains with the Scribe Virgin for Mary's life and she tells him he is going to have to love without her and without her ever remembering him and he just screams ... i cried. I just sat on the sofa crying. It was late, about 3am, and I couldn't go to bed without finishing it. Oh, I wept. Zsadist's story kept me close to the edge all the way through because you knew someone who was called the soulless one was just going to be a mass of hurt when he opened up. Like you, love everything about them, love their shellans and love Fritz too.

SandyisinCaldwell · 26/06/2010 23:39

Timb you are definately a sister mine!

The needing pages of Zsadists book are well thumbed. I cried in Vs, Rhevs and JMs, in fact i cry every time i read them. I also love Team Qhauy!

Timbachick · 27/06/2010 00:27

Haven't got quite that far yet ... with the books I mean! However, you have inspired me to get on with it. Loved Rehv in Zsadist's book actually - wanted to know more about him as he was obviously NOT the stereotypical sympath. Will pull out Revealed and start it tomorrow morning as I wait for my son to do his diving practice.

Am off to bed now - have to get up at some ungodly hour to take said son to said diving practice.

Glad to have met you Sandy. Will check in tomorrow with where I am with Butch. TBH - I think Ryan Reynolds makes a good, albeit a bit undersized, Butch. Maybe Butch pre-transition? I just remember reading Zsadists' comment to V after the transition when he says "the cop is huge V, fucking huge .." or something like that. As he is of Wrath's line I always imagine him as somewhat bigger than Ryan.

dreamworldfullofUNICORNS · 27/06/2010 00:43

my new boxset arrived today, my original books are so well thumbed that 3 of them fell apart abd I have had to replace them

Morning Timba, im really jealous you have all the book yet to read.

Morning Dream, yeh I hear you on that! Ive got them all on my ipod touch as well.

NeonCupcakes · 27/06/2010 14:54

Just checking in briefly. Nice to see a new arrival. Hello, Timba!!

When I first read DL I didn't really want to read the rest of the series - I thought no-one could live up to Wrath. Then I met Rhage ... then Zsadist...then Butch...then Vishous... You must report back when you're into Butch's book. I love Butch & V, and yes I cried at most of them too!

Timbachick · 27/06/2010 15:23

Hi Everyone, Morning! Have just started Butch - ooooohh I know I'm gonna love this one. Thank you for the welcome Neon and dream. Morning Sandy. I know, I love that feeling you get when you start the first book of a series and know it's going to take over. And I too am jealous of dream - to have a set of pristine copies --- it's almost like it was at the start! I love new books, no creases, that smell .
Attention may be stretched a bit this afternoon as football is on and DS is pressing for computer time ... will check in later.

EricNorthmansmistress · 27/06/2010 20:19

Oh Butch is my favourite! Absolutely. Am re-reading all now and I still love Butch the best.

NeonCupcakes · 27/06/2010 23:01

I've not read much other paranormal romance stuff (otherwise known as vamp-porn!). I have ordered the first Lords of the Underworld to take on hols next week (thanks for the pdf Sandy!), and read Nora Roberts Circle Trilogy a while back - NR not usually my cup of tea, but loved those (Cian MacConnaith is pretty high up my list of all time favourite vamps!)

What else would y'all recommend?

SandyisinCaldwell · 28/06/2010 06:49

Neon i have loads of pnr books on pdf, i can always send you thr first of each series. The night huntress about the hot vampire bones is recommended by jeannie frost also look at authors sherrilyn kenyon, lara adrian, kresley cole, chistine feenhan (sp) are are a few, check amazon.

evilgiraffe · 28/06/2010 07:54

I love the phrase "paranormal romance", it's brilliant. I told DH that I was reading paranormal romance (as opposed to vampire porn) and he very nearly cried he was laughing so hard. I just call it vampire porn, call a spade a spade etc
