I've just read the Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society and I can't remember when the last time I endured such drivel. I find it hard to believe something so cringeingly awful got published and am feeling quite pissed off at my book group choosing it. Has anybody else similarly lost a few hours of their life?

I read that recently and I enjoyed it. I particularly liked the fact I learnt a lot about the German occupation of Guernsey.

I loved the book in a 'jolly hockey sticks' way. I liked the letters format (I'm not keen on long drawn out chapters!) and learning about the occupation in Guernsey.

I warmed to all of the characters, although they were a bit two dimensional - either super nice or frightful. I especially like that, despite all that they had been through, the story was still upbeat and optimistic.

I was lead to believe that it was a humorous book, but although I did laugh inwards a couple of times, it wasn't a laugh out loud book. I s'pose it was a bit light and frothy - ( not quite) 1940's chick-lit!
