I loved 'The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood'
So so so so much better to read than the watch the film

I am not she - but I read this donkeys' years ago and really enjoyed it. I seem to remember that there is a follow up but it's nowhere near as good.

there is a prequel - little altas everywhere - kind of a compilation of different yaya events with different narrators and in no particular chronology - interesting but sometimes a little contradictory of yaya sisterhood.

also yayas in bloom - more about the petite yayas and their offspring - again a little jumpy but v readable.

divine secrets is far and away the best though (in fact it is one of my favourite books ever so really pleased you liked it )

have read fried green tomatoes but not seen film - similar type of female relationshippy type book...though have heard film is actually better??

I preferred the film of Fried Green Tomatoes, but book still enjoyable.

i have to say i read divine secrets both before and after becoming a mother and it did change my perspectve slightly afterward...any other similar recommendations?
