There are the animals who gradually die off/ eat each other until only the boy and the tiger are left. They just about survive.

Turns out boy = tiger and the other animals are other people from the shipwreck but can't remember them all now.

Final bit is why did you come up with all that stuff about the tiger then? - may not be true but isn't it a better story

thank you tummytime - am being very slow at reading and found this quite laborious at times, until they leave for Canada and the shipwreck

I just found this en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_of_Pi

Thanks booboobeedoo - was just about to write half of that....Now I don't need to!

The bit about the two maritime investigators is quite good I think - Patel has to re-tell the story without animals because they don't believe the first version.

Then at the end they prefer the animal version.......as Wikipedia says....

What was the bit about the floating island made of funny plant/creature things? I can't remember really and its bugging me!

Well it was a floating island with animals that had no fear, so the Tiger just ate them all.

But the island was poisonous, wasn't it? The plants neutralised the poison.

I didn't 'get' that I have to say. Perhaps something to do with doubters poisoning the minds of believers????
