Anyone finished the Harry Potter book yet? Need to ask a question.....

I can't discuss it with my husband as he has not read it yet, but this is driving me mad....

DO you think that when Dumbledore pleaded with Snape just before he was killed, what he was ACTUALLY pleading for was for Snape to go through with the killing to keep up the pretence of being on Voldermorts side? Not pleading for his life.

I NEED to know!

leonardodavinci · 17/07/2005 18:45

can I please ask how in less than 48 hours you have read the whole book???? I wouldn't have the time as children keep fighting etc.please fill me in.

Janh · 17/07/2005 18:49

I did assume it was a spoiler but looked anyway cos I won't be reading it for ages and I like to know what to look out for!

Janh · 17/07/2005 18:50

I mean it is asking for people who have finished it!

leonardodavinci · 17/07/2005 18:51

how in 36 hours have you read the whole book???????

IlanaK · 17/07/2005 18:52

Gosh - I am really sorry if I spoiled thing for anyone. I assumed that as I asked if anyone had finished the book and that I needed to ask a question, I thought it was obvious. Can I change the title of the thread somehow?

And in answer to how I read it so fast - well I am a fast reader anyway; my husband is wonderful and has done lots of the child care since yesterday so I could read, and I stayed up late too.

Well it's obvious, her DH hasn't read it yet, she has paid him to take the children away all weekend!

HappyHuggy · 17/07/2005 18:56

Ive read it!!!!!!!

OMG!!!!!!!

happymerryberries · 17/07/2005 18:57

Spoiler space

I think that Dumbledore had set the whole thing up with Snape and was pleading with him to do as he had been told and kill Dumbledore

How to read it that fast? Speed readingall the way!!

WigWamBam · 17/07/2005 18:58

Spoiler spaces aren't much good for those who scroll upwards, hmb ...

Janh · 17/07/2005 18:59

Well I'm sorry but nobody should read this who hasn't finished it yet and doesn't want to know what happens!

HappyHuggy · 17/07/2005 19:02

Have to wait for DH to read it now so i cant talk about it with him!

Im such a wuss - i actually cried

RTKangaMummy · 17/07/2005 19:03

so who is half blood prince?

happymerryberries · 17/07/2005 19:03

wwwb! Sorry! I never thought of that

And I have been very careful over using them!

Next time I shall do them bottom and top!

Katiekin · 03/08/2007 23:01

Dont read if you haven't finished! Dumbledore was suffering from a terminal curse/illness and had asked Snape to kill him so that Snape got the sword and therefore would be able to kill voldemort/snake. He had to be defeated by the one who got the sword and he was dying anyway, if I remember right - I read it by the Sunday night so it seems a while ago (I am a speed reader too)

filchthemildmanneredjanitor · 03/08/2007 23:03

katiekin-this thread is 2 years old!!!!

Bouquetsofdynomite · 05/08/2007 12:56

Just finished it. I think Dumbledore was pleading with Snape mostly to prevent Draco doing it, to protect his soul. Also, don't know if Dumbledore knew Snape had made the unbreakable vow with Narcissa to stop Malfoy trying to kill Dumbledore but Snape's soul would have been in danger too (I think) for breaking the vow.

Katiekin · 05/08/2007 23:41

Whoops, didn't notice that, I was so excited about the new Harry Potter! I'll look for a more up to date thread!

Flame · 05/08/2007 23:45

pmsl - still relevant with both books!

Twinklemegan · 05/08/2007 23:46

PMSL at the confusion. I have to say though, these books are aimed at little kids right? So aren't you lot overanalysing?

boogiewoogie · 06/08/2007 10:34

The age of readership for the first book would have been about 7 maybe. By the time the 6th book came out, most of these "little kids" would have been in their late teens. Yes, I know that not all of us are still in our teens but let us have our fun! If you've got kids that read them then they'd want someone to discuss it with surely!

Bouquetsofdynomite · 06/08/2007 18:23

LOL didn't notice the thread age either!
TwinkleMegan, the best children's books (and films and tv come to that) have something for everyone. Give Harry a go, doesn't cost anything from the library - what have you got to lose?

Katiekin · 06/08/2007 22:53

Some children's books span all ages. For instance Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer, His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman and of course HP, Give them a try, they are good
