I can't discuss it with my husband as he has not read it yet, but this is driving me mad....

DO you think that when Dumbledore pleaded with Snape just before he was killed, what he was ACTUALLY pleading for was for Snape to go through with the killing to keep up the pretence of being on Voldermorts side? Not pleading for his life.

I NEED to know!

In The bit just after Harry and Co have been to see Xeno Lovegood.
Harry recalls how Marvolo Gaunt was wearing the Peverall Ring. Then he goes on to say that the Potter family are descendants of the Peverall Family. So they are albeit - distantly related.

I wouldn't introduce HP before junior school personally and even then I think the more imaginative ones will find it scary enough to to worry about it privately. Kids might appear to cope with watching / reading scary things, esp trying to impress older siblings, but it's what sneaks back into their heads when you're not around to reassure them.
Friend of mine's 3y11m old's favourite film is Ghostrider!!! I kept shtum in case I went off on one.

The Potters and Weasleys are also on the House of Black family tree that JKR did for a charity auction once.

back to the naked lump thing. so which did he choose? to finish off voldemort or go elsewhere?

bookwormtailmum · 09/08/2007 13:54

He went back .

nappyaddict · 09/08/2007 14:13

so he could have chosen to die and go to heaven if we wanted?

and when he was talking to dumbledore was that like a dream?

Bouquetsofdynomite · 09/08/2007 17:40

He still can't finish off the last bit of Voldemort without dying himself so that was his choice - die now so the others just have the snake to fight or die later after a big battle, a dead snake and a long life.

I read the book in 48 (actually 8 hours in total)hours by staying up late for two three and a half hour sessions. And then as I was so close, DH was very kind and let me have an hour to myself - God love him

bookwormtailmum · 09/08/2007 21:04

I had to finish it faster than I'd have liked as my dp was threatening to tell me who died in it (he read the last page in addition to that). In the event he was wrong - he thought it was Hermione who snuffed it.

Took me 5 days of being grumpy with anyone we had plans with or who popped round LOL.
I watched Goblet of Fire last night, it was really touching watching it knowing what happens to them all.

nappyaddict · 11/08/2007 11:59

so when he hose to do the big battle did he know he would win it?

Bouquetsofdynomite · 12/08/2007 11:41

Yes because he could always offer himself again, take a bullet for the people (a la Jesus and Captain Jack Harkness). And if he dies that bit of Voldemort dies too and the people would just have the snake to kill which should be quite manageable.
