vicimelly · 17/07/2005 03:48

I've finished it too, very sad ending, I was so shocked had to go back a page to reread and make sure it was true!! lmao

charleepeters · 17/07/2005 06:35

Just found out what happens - v.sad i will have to crack out the tissues to read it (i cheated and looked online)

ScrewballMuppet · 17/07/2005 06:42

My dh is mad about h.potter, he was working all day yesterday and shifts before that. He's v dissapointed that he missed collecting it just after midnight and is itching to read it today as its his day off.

janeite · 17/07/2005 17:48

Stayed up late last night to finish it and cried for about the final 80 pages. Much more satisfying then Book 5. When's Book 7 out?!!!

happymerryberries · 17/07/2005 17:57

Just finished it!

Spoiler space for anyone who hasn't finished it yet

I still think that Snape is on the 'good' side and was acting on Dumbledore's orders. The 'pleading' in his voice was for snape to do as he was ordered. No Idea who has the original locet thingie!

goosey · 17/07/2005 18:03

I haven't read any of the books and have only caught snippets of the films if I've been in the room so haven't much idea what they are all about. But I have a 17yr old dd in floods of tears so I guess it must be a sad ending. She said it was a shock.

Aragon · 17/07/2005 18:19

Finished mine this morning - read three quarters of it yesterday evening - couldn't put it down. Respect to JK - it's a masterpiece and I'm already craving the next book.

HappyHuggy · 17/07/2005 18:55

I just finished Harry Potter..........OMG!!!!

Enid · 17/07/2005 19:33

so who dies?

ScummyMummy · 17/07/2005 19:34

Guess, Enid.

Whizzz · 17/07/2005 19:34

Its selling for £7 something in Costco - I was going to buy it today but forgot.....

hunkermunker · 17/07/2005 19:36

Is it wrong that I'm hoping it's Harry who's died and that it's the end of the series and the hysteria?

Janh · 17/07/2005 19:38

hunker, you old grouch

I know, I know... I find them distinctly unmemorable. I read the first four, but the last one was a chore and a half and I was very glad when I'd finished it! Can remember:

A flying car
Wands
magic hat that sorts children into houses
game on broomsticks with a load of balls
a painting that talks
something about a cat
an egg you hold underwater or something
diagon alley
heffalump or whatever the groundsman's called and those tedious mystical beasts he had in book 4 (I think) - lost the will to live when she kept banging on about them
Hermione being earnest
Harry being earnest (with a scar)
Ginger kid being earnest

And that's about it, I'm afraid

Enid · 17/07/2005 19:44

lol hunker

Enid · 17/07/2005 19:46

was it the swot or the ginge?

Janh · 17/07/2005 19:46

I did like the 3rd one - the last film, prisoner of azkaban - great characters and situations and very clever plot, I thought. (And the time-turner - I have wanted one ever since!) The others have been OK but that one was the best.

hunkermunker · 17/07/2005 19:47

Don't remember a time-turner AT ALL! Did I read them with my eyes shut...?! It's weird - I remember plotlines from books I read much longer ago (and more recently), but not these at all!

Do remember the Procrastinators from Terry Pratchett's Thief Of Time though - fantastic devices

ScummyMummy · 17/07/2005 19:51

Nope.

Enid · 17/07/2005 19:52

aha

thats quite cool

(is it?)

Janh · 17/07/2005 19:53

Well half the plot hinged on it, hunker! Hermione (Enid's swot) had it, so that she could be in 2 lessons at once, and then later she and Harry were given it by Dumbledore in order to go back and make sure a few things that had already happened didn't happen after all - a bit Wyndhamesque but very cleverly done.

emily05 · 17/07/2005 19:53

Is there a kind person who will e-mail me a brief spoiler on this book? I wont get time to read it and I want to know what happens!
my e-mail is [email protected]. Pllleeeaaasssee!!!!

Janh · 17/07/2005 19:56

Oh, and Harry saved his own life. That was eerie. I am impressed by JKR.
