True Blood

I've just started reading Dead Until Dark. I couldn't get into it at first, it seemed quite badly written but after a while it started sinking in and I realised the writing style really suited the character and I'm becomming engrossed.

I'm going to buy the rest of the books and am also thinking about buying the DVDs.

Anyone want to discuss True Blood with me?

I read the first two books and started the third but never finished it. Tbh I love the TV series and don't want to spoil it. I also thought it wasn't very well written but I think it's a fair point you make about it suiting the character. I just couldn't get engrossed, which is a shame as I got the whole set for Christmas. I think whoever adapted them for television was a real genius though.

I have all of the books and love them all, i think they get even better as they go on, i haven't ever watched the tv series.

I have also read all the books.
Cannot wait for the next one!
It's funny other people have found them hard to get into because I was a bit like that. At first I thought it was a bit like fanfiction IYGWIM. But thankfully I stuck with it and now I have a lovely obsession with Eric as a result.
Thank you Charlaine Harris, for the wonderful Mr Northman!!

I got into them really easily! The writing style was just perfect for a tired out mum who just wants something easy with no big words (and some sex scenes ).

My problem now is I don't know if I prefer Sam or Eric.

I haven't read the books but have watched the TV series 1 & 2, and can thoroughly recommend it.

I am waiting for my books to arrive (thanks butterball!) but not sure if I should wait and watch season 2 before reading it or read it first? What do you all think?

Timesofhope · 25/02/2010 20:43

The books are completely different to the series so to me it didn't make much difference if I watched the show before the books. I just wish Eric and Sookie had the same kind of relationship in the programme as in the books because the interactions between them are quite funny at times!

I have read all the books at least twice. I am Eric obsessed!

frickin awesome! Waiting for 7,8 and 9 to arrive via amazon, they are completely different to the series so I'm enjoying them as two seperate things...

which reminds me, series two is about to start! Shhhhhh..........

Slightly disappointed with the first episode of season 2 - it seemed to be trying to push a number of storylines into a small space of time - i counted at least 4 or 5 different stories going on. Plus we only saw Eric for a couple of minutes at the end!

I hope this isn't going to be how the whole series goes on - I might not be able to keep up!
