Hi all,

Just finished this and loved it!
I love fairy tales and I liked the way he interweaved them into the story.

From what I have gleaned (haven't read anything else by him), it seems that this book is very different from his others.

Can anyone confirm this or recommend anything similar?

I loved The Book of Lost Things too. But yes, his other fiction is very different, crime/thriller stuff mostly. I would recommend The Bloody Chamber by Angela Carter if you're a fan of fairy tales.

I have read it (bought it for the v pretty cover) and was disappointed by it.

There is a book called, I think "The Stolen Child" by Keith somebody, which is v fairytale-ish and which I really enjoyed. Also, maybe try Neil Gaiman eg: Stardust and Neverwhere.

He generally writes very dark crime/psychological horror mix fiction, so yes it sounds very different! I love his stuff, but not sure about this as it sounds so different.
