I may be slayed for this

I am on page 150, it's readable but I can't say I'm enjoying it really, it isn't calling me to read it

I love the premise but am feeling a little disappointed so far

does it improve?

Ages since I read, but do remember enjoying it, so maybe it gets better?

Ditto Lionstar. A few years since I read it but I enjoyed it. Recently read Anansi Boys which was very good too.

Definitely stick with it, it's such a compelling read.. mind you, I love all his stuff so maybe he's just not for you full stop? I've just re-read Neverwhere which I love, love, love, as well. You could always try one of his short story compilations ie Smoke & Mirrors?

DingDongBinaryOnHigh · 31/12/2009 20:12

I love Neil Gaiman, but find his graphic novels better than his fiction. Sandman was astoundingly good, and although his novels are enjoyable, they're not breathtaking.

Having said that, the concept for American Gods was genius.

I promise it does get better, very good book I thought.

TheFoosa · 01/01/2010 09:45

well, it is on hold as I have started Charlie Brooker's latest

I really should make the effort to read something by Neil Gaiman, it would make DP so happy. (He is actually obsessed with the sandman books)

I love American Gods. Actually I love all his books, and the adaptation of the Snow White story in Smoke & Mirrors made me giggle quite a lot.

I loved American Gods too, but as Worrisome Heart said, I am also a Gaiman fan. Maybe he's just not for you. I found American Gods really easy to read.
