(Audio) book for my 95yo nan-Danielle Steele fan!

I want to buy my nan an audio book for Christmas to see how she gets on with it as her eyesight is failing and reading is one of her passions . She likes Danielle Steele. Does anyone know any similar authors they can "suggest"?

That's a lovely idea. Have you thought about getting her audio books regularly on loan from your library? They have a great stock and are regularly changed and you can reserve any particular ones.

Also, the RNIB have a fantastic service a bit like the DVD by post thingy, you subscribe and get a special cd player that holds the place etc, then unlimited audio book cds by post with return envelopes that you stick the cds in to send back.

You just give the service a list of what authors/genres you like and then they send out a selection. ( I think also you can select specific titles on a computer but my Nan who had the service was going on 90 & I don't suppose ever used a computer in her life ).

Its quite expensive (about £70 p/a for the subscription maybe?) but sometimes councils will subscribe for people who are registered blind or partially sighted, I know Sutton did for my Nan. It was great for her because she had pretty much listened to all the audio books from the libraries round about her.

Thank you, thank you for these sugggestions. I've decided to buy her two audio books which my mum'll listen to with her and if she gets on with them we'll get the Daisy machine for her birthday in February.
