For me the best is definitely Trainspotting.

Carrie is good too!

A room with a view. Love that film. and it sticks closely to the book

ShowOfHands · 21/11/2009 12:26

The Notebook is better than the book.

Brokeback Mountain very, very well done.

That tv adaptation of Persuasion from 1995.

BBC Dickens is usually good too - Our Mutual Friend was a good one, Bleak House, Martin Chuzzlewit. Christine Edzard's Little Dorrit film with Derek Jacobi is also great.

A Handful of Dust with Kristin Scott Thomas.

Green Mile.. Bloody love that film.

Atonement was pretty good - I was terrified to watch it because I love the book so much and didn't want it ruined, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Oscar and Lucinda also good (Ralph Fiennes and Cate Blanchett)

"Green Mile.. Bloody love that film."

Oooh how could I forget that, I actually prefer the film to the book!

The BBC version of Ruby in the Smoke was good too.

Carrie - the film is better than the book!
Yes to Persuasion.
The Harry Potter films, especially the 1st, 5th and 6th.
The Kate Beckinsale Emma.
The Jane Eyre version with the woman who looks a bit ducklike was excellent.
I love the Kiera Knightley P&P, though lots of people on here don'.
Of Mice And Men.
The Zefferelli Romeo and Juliet.
Holes.
I like Stormbreaker, although I think a lot of critics didn't.

I had no idea that Kristen ST had done A Handful Of Dust - would love to see that.

Absolutely detested Brokeback Mountain though and couldn't bring myself to watch Billie Piper in The Ruby In The Smoke because I love it and hate her so much.

Got to be One Flew over the Cukoos Nest, or maybe The Shining, hard to choose between them.

"One Flew over the Cukoos Nest"

I prefer the book, but still love the film
