book recommendations for first time mum of 6 month old

I am looking for people's recommendations of books that might be good to help me understand what is coming next with my 6 month old. I have had a brilliant book for her for the first 6 months of her life but that's as far as it goes. I don't particularly want a book that is too techy but that gives you more real life advice. The book that I have used before has been written by parents, with some medical info added in by a Dr, and I have enjoyed this as it makes it more real. Thank u all in advance for any help you can give. xx

I really recommend What Mothers Do, more about you though rather than what's to come!

Or I've heard good things about the What to Expect books

I like Kidwrangling by Kaz Cooke. It's funny and down to earth and seems to touch on everything, with recommendations for other books and references if you do want more detail on something.

Mumsnet have a toddlers guide and their pregnancy guide has just come out but the babies one isn't due for a while yet I don't think. They are taken from the forums though so are effectively written by parents.

Oh, sorry, I just looked it up on amazon and it's now published as The Rough Guide to Babies & Toddlers - same content though.
