pooter · 29/09/2009 18:09

ooh, just found it on amazon - Unseen Academicals - cant wait to get it. Bugger - i was in town today as well...

RustyBear · 29/09/2009 18:12

It's called Unseen Academicals and it's about football. (£9.49 at Tesco)

I will report back, but for an ex-librarian I am strangely bad at reviews - I just know if I like something or not, but can never put my finger on why....

Okay, just finished this. I am an avid Pratchett fan, own all the books, even the Discworld music CD! But I don't know what I thought of the book. It was very clever; it made me smile a lot (but not laugh out loud). I don't know if I wasn't engaged by it because I am not a fan of football - or if I was looking for it to be be "different/ less good, even" because of Terry's diagnosis.
I was so hoping to find some other comments on here.

waiting for it to come out on paperback! Just got Nation tho

ParanoidAtAllTimes · 18/10/2009 18:40

Am half way through and enjoying it! I am a football fan though...

Hurrah! A new Terry Pratchett.

(Grabs car keys & heads off to Tescos to buy it).

I have just finished it, and enjoyed it. Probably not one of his best, but I am no football fan so he was pushing uphill on this one. It has some very funny bits - including the (former) Dean of the Unseen University refereeing a match between town and gown who has somehow been possessed by ghosts of PE teachers past...And any book that has both Ridcully and Vetinari in it can't be bad!
