Any Neil Gaiman fans out there?

What else can I read that is similar. I've gone through them all but need something new that has a jolly good yarn
Any ideas much appreciated

My DP went on mastermind a couple of years back doing sandman...have you read the comics, btw?

Anyway, he recommends Susanna Clarke and Will Self. What aspect of Neil Gaiman do you like and he can help you more.

Gaiman himself recommends Dianna Wynne Jones. Pratchett is a bit more 'punny' and obvious, but entertaining. Jasper Fforde is funny. I like his stuff a lot and it's quirky like Gaiman.

I have to say, though, I find the man rather unique, so nothing is quite so appealing imo.

Simon R Greene is often recommended for Gaiman lovers. I've read a couple of his and they're light, enjoyable and generally humorous.

Steven King - but the less 'horror-ish' ones: perhaps The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon or The Dark Tower series.

Some of Pratchett but especially Reaper Man and the Sam Vines books.

I haven't read the Sandman. Mostly I like listening to them as audiobooks. Although I have read "American Gods", which was great.
What I like about them are the great story lines, just so imaginative and exciting. I especially liked "the Graveyard book" and "Anansi boys".
I really didn't like 'fragile things' though, far too surreal and bitty for me.

I have listened to one Susanna clark"the ladies of grace adieu" and quite liked it, but know I couldn't face something as long as "Jonathon strange...."

Trouble is with listening to books is that the narrators voice is very important

He's on youtube-search for sandman mastermind. Although that has possibly just ruined my anonymity on mumsnet!

He did sandman on the semi final, he came second to the man who went on to win the series, so not too shabby really.

Mt DH and I are great comicbook fan s and have the full collection of books. Mark Buckingham is a great friend of ours and has done me a lovely set of drawings which I have on my walls.

Has he read Fables, Strangers in Paradise or Y the Last Man? Though that is probably a very stupid question

he says he hasn't actually got round to it, as for the last couple of years he has had me and DD so can't be spending all his money on comic books! Bless him.

Neil Gaiman and Terry Partchett wrote a book together called "Good Omens". It's very good and might be a good introduction to Pratchett if you've not read any. Amazon have it here

Then if you like it, there are 30-odd Discworld books to read - have already pre-ordered the latest which should arrive shortly after my copy of Gaiman's M is for Magic

I would say that you would enjoy Strangers in Paradise as well. It is an incredbly written piece of literature. Makes a good Christmas/birthday present
