To give you an idea, I like classics, and good easy reads by Anita Shreve, Jodi Picoult, Martina Cole etc.

well...I ust read chritopher reeves book and it was a brill read....though not sure that is what you are after

Have you read any Anne Tyler? I really like her stuff and I am informed she's a bit like Anita Shreve.
Also highly recommend Jonathan Coe.
Have recently read 2 books by Tom Perrota and will look out for more of his when my reading mountain has decreased slightly!
