I really enjoyed "Sunshine"

Flamesparrow · 25/07/2009 22:13

here

janeite · 25/07/2009 22:14

Dracula - anything else is second rate in comparison.

AlistairSim · 25/07/2009 22:14

I second "Sunshine"

There's also a trilogy called Sonja Blue but I can't remember the author (and am far too lazy to look).

If you want vampires and sex try Anita Balke by Laurell K Hamilton. Also Poppy Z Brite (I think that's the spelling).

LovingtheSilverFox · 25/07/2009 22:27

Sorry soph - Anita Blake, typing badly tonight!

Heathcliffscathy · 25/07/2009 22:37

Are these grown up books?

i don't want teen. i don't want funny.

i want epic.

sex is fine too

Have you read The Historian? Is a good meaty holiday read. Sort of academic/librarian vampire genre.

EsmeWeatherwax · 25/07/2009 23:29

If its sex you're after, the later Anita Blake books are the thing. The earlier ones are better though, very grown up! Laurell Hamilton's writing style is quite irritatingly bad though, but they are good stories..

I think the Sookie Stackhouse books are the best of the lot I have to say. But they are quite fluffy, a lot more so than the tv series, which I really like too so far!

Would second the historian too, its really good, although as I remember the ending was a bit pants.

janeite · 25/07/2009 23:34

Yes to The Historian.

I loved the Historian, really pacey read, a page turner.
Must read again, thanks for the reminder!

My great aunt, who enjoys paranormal and erotic fiction, lent me this by kresley cole when I was recuperating. It was memorable!

There is also another series which she enjoys by Christine Feehan.

Neither are highbrow!

kikidee · 26/07/2009 21:11

My husband has just read Let The Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist and absolutely loved it. The blurb on the back says its a disturbing and brilliant reworking of the vampire legend and a deeply moving fable about rejection, friendship and loyalty. He was gripped by it which is unusual for him.

janeite · 26/07/2009 22:31

I've just ordered that for dp - thanks for the heads up.

DeFluffMyFanjo · 30/07/2009 21:53

Kresley Cole ones I loved, I have become addicted to Paranormal Porn!!

Reading Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost at the moment, very good.
