This book will save your life - ironic because reading it I am loosing the will to live.
I'm half way through and struggling, I'm bored with it and wondering if it will get any better?

Erm I really enjoyed it but if yr halfway thru then maybe time to give up. I reached a point a few yrs ago when I stopped trudging thru books I wasn't enjoying.

What's the last book you really enjoyed?

tiredsville · 28/05/2009 20:44

Slummy Mummy was the last book I read which cheered me up no end.
I'm a big fan of Louis De Bernieres & Zadie Smith.
Also love Ben Elton @ Irvine Welsh. 'Filth' was definitely gripping. I seem to like the shock factor when reading.
I feel like a failure if I don't finish a book but your way of thinking does make sense.

Read her other stuff - that is her weakest book imo.

"Music for Torching" is stunning. But I guess you have to like her "distant" writing style.

Blimey. Now you mention it the last book I really enjoyed was the testament of gideon mack. And that was last summer!

A whole year of reading slightly mediocre books :-(

I hated this book will save your life. Like yourself though I don't like to leave books half-read so plodded onto the end.

If you're into the 'shock factor' type book have you read any Chuck Palanuik?

jarbelle · 29/05/2009 11:40

Sorry that should be Palahniuk

tiredsville · 29/05/2009 17:41

No I haven't, I have White Tiger lined up next by Aravind Adija. Apparently pretty good.
