I am not a huge fan of historical fiction, but have read a lot of non fiction books about Mary,Queen of Scots and wondered how she would be protrayed in this. It was good, I enjoyed it

I saw this as a audio book today and nearly bought it! I used to be very into historical fiction, but haven't read much for a while - you'd recommend this then, would you?

I liked - and as I said I'm not a fan of that genre. I really enjoyed it, so much so that I read it in 3 nights.

Is that a new Phillipa Gregory book? I've loved all her previous Tudor books.

Yes it is. From a Scots point of view, I think the portrayl of her in the book is good. Different to how she is portrayed in non-fiction. I did wonder, before I started reading, if it would be a sort of biography type fiction (IYSWIM), but it's not. Both Queens don't come across in a good light.

Ooowww, it sounds good. I'm going to get it. Many thanks for bringing the book to my attention

A colleague is reading it and also likes it. I asked her about it as have read "The Other Boleyn Girl", which I thought was excellent and "The Virgin's Lover", which I felt was a bit thin in comparison. Glad to hear PG is back on form!
