R4 7.15 today.

Should have put this in children's but no time to change!

Right I am clearly the only one to have been in love with Mark / William / Dick in Flambards.

Nope - a big fan of Flambards here. Couldn't decide between sensitive, tragic Will, rough and ready Dick or arrogant yet sexy Mark. Lucky old Christina had them all!

pointydog · 27/04/2009 19:40

I am listening on behlf of dd1 who is out

pointydog · 27/04/2009 19:40

She's quite an age now, is she not?

bran · 27/04/2009 19:47

That was very interesting, she sounds as though she would be great company, full of interesting chat and not at all full of herself. I had asumed that she was already dead, I read the Flambards series when I was a child and thought it had been written a long time before when, in fact, it must have only been a few years before as Flambards Divided hadn't been published yet.

smallorange · 27/04/2009 19:49

I liked Flambards but loved Fly-by-Night and The Team. I wantd to be Ruth. Are her books still in print?

pointydog · 27/04/2009 20:01

I khew she was alive. I think she has a website. I looked at it with dd1. Certainly some books in print and she is writing new ones too.

VintageGardenia · 27/04/2009 20:02

I must admit I had assumed her to be dead too, how awful. Delighted to hear her alive! Comforting, almost.

I will look them up. Am stockpiling classic children's books for when the girls are old enough to read them.

I used to read lots of horsey books when I was going through my pony mad stage: "Mum can I have a pony? Can we keep it in the back garden? Can we? Mummmmmmm!"

FrannyandZooey · 27/04/2009 20:07

Loved Flambardds - both books and TV.

Was lucky to hear her speak and meet and talk to her last autumn at a book fair. She is full of life and interest and very sparky.

Sorry I missed this!

scampadoodle · 27/04/2009 20:31

I just caught the tail-end of this & was gutted. I absolutely adore the tv series & the books. It was shown when I was about 14 & I was obsessed with it. I have the dvds now & sometimes watch it in bed while DH sits downstairs & catches up with The Wire (no, we have nothing in common!)

It's strange how hardly anyone in the tv version did much else after that, on tv anyway.

fridascruffs · 27/04/2009 20:39

I wanted to be BE Christina for years. (well mainly I wanted her horses)(or indeed, any horse).

bran · 27/04/2009 21:09

You can buy Flambards on DVD? I must buy it check that out and add it to my Christmas/birthday wish list.

MissM · 05/05/2009 20:17

Have just found this, am so sorry to have missed it. I wanted to be Christina sooooooooooooo much. And Will wins hands down, especially for what might have been
