I know there have been threads before but can't find them but what a great book, the descriptions of conditions in the Great War were very graphic which seems the wrong word but they managed to give me a very powerful image of where and how Moritz was and what life was like.

I really loved this one too, made so much better by the fact that it is loosely based on his own life. I thought the opening scenes with the bus crash & what happened afterwards were very moving too.

I quite enjoyed this. Wasn't so drawn in by the modern day story though, I much preferred the story about the Great War.

I definitely think the story in The Great War was stronger, very well researched.
