....read a book with a psycho-killer in who had the same name as one of your DC's??

It really shocked me when I read my 5 month old DS's name in the book and especially in such a bad/scary context and I can't decide whether to carry on reading.

Am I being really silly??

I don't think you are beign silly. My DS has a fairly unusual name, and if I see it in print I sometimes get a little piqued if the character is not a pleasant one, so I can relate. Maybe not read it too before you go to sleep as it may make for some weird dreams!

Yes , you are being a nikenpoopey, my love. Carry on reading. If it is a fab book, just think, you will be able to keep it for when M is older.

I'd carry on reading personally, otherwise it will end up a bigger deal in your mind as the book you couldn't finish, rather than if you just read it and forget about it.

Reminds me of my birthday presents when I was 37 weeks pregnant with a boy - 'We need to talk about Kevin' and something rubbish about the birth of the antichrist

Yup. Just read it.

Unless it is American Psycho in which case it is crap and overhyped so don't bother.

ChocOrange05 · 16/04/2009 19:13

Oh, thanks Hana - I could read the baddie and then banish his character/memory by reading a goodie!!

Thanks for all other comments - I guess its an resounding vote for read. And as my DH always says MN is the oracle .
