A friend suggested I read this the other day. I thought it was aimed more at "youngsters". Can anyone tell me if it's worth a go please?

It is aimed at teenagers although i thought it was fine ( i'm 35 ). If you're into supernatural ( Kelley Armstrong/Kim Harrison) you will probably enjoy( though not as much)

Flamesparrow · 09/04/2009 12:44

I loved it - it was easy to read, and just evoked that feeling of being 17 and desperately in love. The writing may not be the best writing in the world, but for me it didn't matter.

mrsmaidamess · 09/04/2009 12:45

Its easy reading. I thought the way the intense relationship betwen Edward adn Bella was conveyed was quite good. But it is teenagery (and very virginal, I wanted a good bodice ripping Vampire sex scene)

BlackLetterDay · 09/04/2009 12:48

I did try to read the second book but gave up 150 pages in, I found it tedious in the extreme, but then again I have never had any patience for numpty's mooning about over lost love . For me it was kind of like those conversations with a friend where they drone on and on and on about some random bloke you couldn't give a shit about.

yappybluedog · 09/04/2009 12:55

2nd book isn't that good, but books 3 & 4 worth reading

mrsmaidamess · 09/04/2009 12:57

Yes I'm struggling through the second book at the moment. dd keeps asking me 'Where are you in the book? ' as she wants me to like it as much as she did...I don't!

fishie · 09/04/2009 12:57

i was completely unmoved by the vampire boy character so i think the whole thing passed me by rather.

just saw the last book in the library and realised i can't remember how it ended, so it clearly didn't make much of an impression on me.

Berrie · 09/04/2009 12:58

I loved them! Most enjoyable read I've had in years!

Flamesparrow · 09/04/2009 13:18

I loved the second one, but I am a Jacob fan

saramoon · 09/04/2009 14:52

I loved them all - although, yes, the second one dragged a bit. I'm going to rent the film this weekend.

OhBling · 09/04/2009 15:27

Mrs M - have you read Lynsay Sands? If you're looking for a vampire story with lots of sex, that's the way forward! Although mostly a distinct lack of actual bodice ripping....

Kayteee · 09/04/2009 17:43

Thank you all.

Will probably try the first one then as I am a sucker for all that "numpty mooning" stuff

I'm 37 and I adored it. Have read the whole series twice. This 'just for teenagers' thing is utter bollox.

EdwardCullensWife · 09/04/2009 18:03

My MN name says it all, really

Berrie · 09/04/2009 18:06

Wondered when you'd turn up on here EdwardCullenswife!

seeker · 09/04/2009 18:08

You have to be 13.......!

Berrie · 09/04/2009 18:10

Nonsense!

EdwardCullensWife · 09/04/2009 21:56

Utter nonsense.

seeker · 09/04/2009 22:05

Now you know it isn't nonsense - you agree with me really. It's just that your hormones have got in the way of your critical faculties!

PersephoneSnape · 09/04/2009 22:54

couldn't finish the first one. agree that it splendidly invokes that feeling of being 17 and hopelessley in love, but why would i want to be reminded of that!?

janeite · 09/04/2009 22:56

I was irritated by them but read them all because I'd paid for them! The second and third are the most dreadful of the four, with the 3rd being excrutiatingly boring. I quite liked the 4th.

seeker · 09/04/2009 23:38

Mind you, my dd has moved from them to Katie Fford - not sure which is worse.

Berrie · 10/04/2009 09:14

Oh Katie F for sure.

JodieO · 10/04/2009 09:27

I loved it and the other books. If you want more "adult" content try the stephanie myers books, they are very good imo.

TotalChaos · 10/04/2009 09:27

a rich chocolate fudge cake of a book - you know it's not good for you but you keep on turning the pages . enjoyable, entertaining trash. would be better with less lovesick moping of "wail! I am not worthy of you" variety.
