All the reviews say this is good, my sister says it is good, it's mentioned on TV. I'm not one to follow trends - just reading what appeals, but have now got my hands on this and it's SO thick!!! Can anyone out there motivate me enough to want to pick it up with vigour? :0

I gave up on it, didn't find it that gripping TBH

That's how I feel and I have only got up to page 12!

Read it but didn't really rate it. I would say it is about 400 pages too long. The characters are really thin. Read something more inspiring, or do the hoovering, it is about as much fun.

I am beginning to loose heart with it. I have always read tonnes but since having kids have slowed down and have to be very choosey what to spend time on!

I'm the same. 10 years ago I probably would have perservered but now can't be bothered.

I'm having trouble getting into this book as well (only on about page 100). Norrell is such an unsympathetic character. Is it worth persevering?

Hmmm, I see this is out in paperback now, it doesn't look quite so daunting. Doesn't sound like it's worth it though.

Anyone loved it?

try to persist, it gets much better, and when jonathan strange comes into the narrative, it is more compelling. Definitely worth it.
